She exited active politics and known for her independence had a stint as a Temporary Judge of the High Court and is currently the Director of the Police Complaints Authority.

Lucky is well known for her debating skills; while a student at [[Naparima Girls' High School]] she won the "''[[Petrotrin|Trintoc]] Debate''", a national [[Sixth Form]] debate. After graduating from [[Hugh Wooding Law School]], Lucky worked for a private [[law firm]] before working for the [[Director of Public Prosecutions]] Office where she worked as a prosecutor. After working for eight years at the DPP's office she moved to the [[University of the West Indies]] where she lectured on [[Business Law]] and worked as a [[Disc jockey]] on [[Sangeet 106]] radio. She is a regular columnist in the [[Trinidad Guardian]] Newspaper. She also hosted a current events television programme called Just Gill on IeTV.
Gillian attended Naparima Girls' High School for her secondary education. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at The University of the West Indies in 1989, where she was awarded the Therese Sylvester Prize for the Most Outstanding University Student - Cave Hil Campus.
