You're getting confused with modern-day "Afghan citizen" and the historical Afghans. You're from Pakistan and you should know very well that "Afghan" during Sikh empire did not only refer to citizens of Afghanistan but also to the natives of what is present-day Pakistan. You mentioning "Afghan invasion" makes readers assume that the natives of Peshawar region were Sikhs. Also, there are dozens of reliable sources that clearly mention "Afghan victory."
