Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sharif (cosmologist)

Muhammad Sharif (cosmologist) (Urdu: محمد شريف) (June 15, 1962) is a widely known Pakistani mathematician and cosmologist, specialized in mathematical physics and physical cosmology. He is the Chairman of the Department of Mathematics, University of the Punjab (PU), Lahore.[1][2] Sharif is a Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan Distinguished National Professor.[1] He has been awarded the Izaz-Fazeelat and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan.

Education and Career

Sharif completed a postdoctoral Fellowship in South Korea and another in the UK, successfully completing two research projects. He is a student of Pakistani Mathematical physicist Dr. Asghar Qadir.

Sharif has participated and attended more than 60 International and National workshops and conferences in his field.[3][4] He has published more than 200 research papers and his work has been cited more than 1000 times by national and international researchers. For his educational contributions, Sharif was awarded the Best University Teacher Award by HEC in 2008 and Gold Medal by Pakistan Academy of Sciences in 2009.[5] As of 2013, he has supervised thirty-nine M. Phil and six Ph.D students, and many researchers are still benefiting from his expertise. He is also an associate member of the World Academy of Science.
