Template:DB Character Vegetto, or Vegito, is a fictional character in the Dragon Ball manga and Dragon Ball Z anime. He is the immensely powerful result of Goku and Vegeta fused by use of the Potara earrings, and is widely accepted as being the strongest character from the Dragon Ball universe prior to Dragon Ball GT. Vegetto, like Gotenks before him was voiced by two actors at the same time. In Japan he was voiced by the seiyū Masako Nozawa (Goku) and Ryo Horikawa (Vegeta). In the US version Vegetto was voiced by Sean Schemmel (Goku) and Christopher Sabat, (Vegeta).

Appearance

Vegetto is a mixture of both Goku and Vegeta's characteristics. He is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, about the same height as Goku. It is quite difficult to determine which of the fused counterparts, Goku or Vegeta, is the dominant role, but one can assume it may be Vegeta by observing his characteristics such as hair and personality. His hair is more inclined toward Vegeta since it firmly stands upwards. However, he has two bangs sticking out like a downward "V" shape, a trait caught from Goku. Vegetto wears two earrings as result from the Potara Fusion, and has the same blue outfit Vegeta wears throughout the Buu Saga, but has Goku's orange outfit as an undershirt (although in reverse).

Origin/History

Behind the Earrings

File:Merger.jpg

Including the always reluctant Vegeta, Vegetto is formed by the merging of the greatest Saiyans ever, via the Potara earrings. The Potara earrings are clip-on magical artifacts of the Supreme Kais. When one individual wears both, nothing happens, but when two wear each on opposite ears, they are activated, fusing the two forever. His name is derived from Vegeta and Kakarotto, NOT Vegeta and Kakarot. Vegetto has many different spelling variations (though the correct interpretation is Vegetto). The second 'e' can be replaced with an 'i', with or without the 'g' being changed with a 'j', and with or without starting with a 'B' instead of a 'V', and it can use either one or two 't's. Bejito is the Romaji name of Vegito which is the English name. Shonen Jump's united states manga version calls him Vegerot.

Behind the Fused Saiyan

The Potara Earring Fusion used to form Vegetto is what Rou Dai Kaioshin considered to be the proper way to do fusion, as opposed to the inferior Fusion Dance technique. The resulting fusion lasts forever, even if the fused being removes the earrings. It is considered to be higher quality because the fusion is permanent, but it does not necessarilly give the same boost to power as the Fusion Dance. The determination of power levels is more complex than simply adding together the power levels of the two individuals. Vegetto has the confidence and fighting smarts of Goku, along with the cocky grin and genius strategical mind of Vegeta; in other words, the perfect fusion. Goku and Vegeta's rivalry somehow made the fusion more compatible, giving them even more power than expected, which was seen when Vegetto transformed into "Super Vegetto".

Vegetto is Born

Vegetto was a fusion formed out of desperation by Vegeta and Goku in an effort to stop Buu, an ancient and amazing powerful creature whose only purpose is to destroy. Because Buu had absorbed some of the Z Fighters, including Gotenks, and was getting more powerful, Goku and the Kaiôshins came to a conclusion that the best hope of defeating Buu was fusion, but there was no time to attempt the fusion technique. As a solution to this problem, the Potara Earrings were given to Goku to save the universe from Buu. Goku then proceeds to Earth just in time, before Buu could destroy it. Goku threw the earring to Gohan so they could fuse, but Gohan failed to catch it. Buu then lost a large amount of power due to Gotenks separating inside him. He then proceeds to absorb Gohan, becoming even more deadlier and powerful. Goku is now left with no one that could help him by fusing, but miraculously he senses Vegeta's energy, and quickly transports himself to his location. After some quick persuasion, due to both Goku and Buu beating them up, Vegeta finally agrees, giving birth to Vegetto.

Vegetto vs. Super Buu w/Gohan

Super Buu, after absorbing Gohan, became Super Buu w/Gohan. He was too powerful for anyone, and as a result forced Goku and Vegeta to use the Potara Earrings, which was a permanent fusion, to become Vegetto. Buu didn't take him very seriously, even though he feels a great power from him. Vegetto tempts Buu to make the first attack, but Buu denies it. Vegetto then makes the first attack, connecting a fast punch on Buu. Buu is appalled with the Saiyan's speed, but retaliates with a few punches himself. Unfortunately for Buu, he only momentarily stunned Vegetto, as the Saiyan got back on his feet in no time, smiling at him.

File:254-31.jpg

Buu then grins at Vegetto, and decides to test his strength. He then creates an enormous sphere of energy, called his Galaxy Ball. The Ball creates a pink aura around the environment from its immense energy. Vegetto smiles at Buu throughout the duration of time as Buu charges the ball's size. As Buu is about to unleash his attack, Vegetto prepares himself. Buu then releases his energy sphere, feeling confident Vegetto is finished. But he couldn't believe his eyes when Vegetto gripped the sphere and stopped it from touching the ground, then kicked it back towards him. Appalled, Buu quickly gets out of the way before he is caught in the blast. Buu is amazed at Vegetto's strength, but still thinks he is no match.

Vegetto then decides to turn things up a notch, by increasing his power with a transformation. Buu is stunned to know that Vegetto can become even more powerful than he is now. Vegetto transforms into a Super Saiyan, and calls himself "Super Vegetto". Buu is impressed, but not convinced that Vegetto is stronger than him.

Vegetto then begins to completely dominate Buu even more than he did before. He starts to kick and punch Buu all over the place with swift elegance. Buu isn't even able to see what is coming his way, and is being beaten terribly. Buu tries to hide himself within his steam, thinking Vegetto cannot find him and he will therefore be safe from his assault. Lo and behold Vegetto does find him and beats him up severely. Buu then tries to liquify himself into a pink fluid, going down Vegetto's throat. Buu laughs and tells him that he is powerless to hurt him, but Vegetto confidently replies that it will not help him.

Buu, now within Vegetto, thinks he finally has control of the battle. Unfortunately for him, Vegetto figures how to manipulate Buu within him, therefore regaining control of himself. Buu is now under the mercy of Vegetto as long as he stays within him, and his punched, kicked, and even slammed to the ground wherever he pops up on Vegetto's skin. Buu surrenders, and extracts himself out of Vegetto. When he resurfaces, Buu tries once again to go head to head with Vegetto. He is completely dominated. Vegetto even impales him using his Spirit Sword technique. Buu is baffled as to how Vegetto is easily avoiding everything he throws at him. Vegetto then begins to mock Buu and his useless attempts on harming him. Buu gets agitated, and starts to power up through his anger.

File:255-36.jpg

Buu starts to power himself up, so much as to shake the whole planet in his wake. Buu is attempting something he previously did, which was tearing through Dimensions. Dende who was witnessing the fight stated in a state of shock that if Buu won't be stopped from tearing through the dimensions, all the dimensions will get too weak and ultimately collapse upon each other resulting in the total destruction of the entire Universe itself. Vegetto realizes Buu is doing something too dangerous for him to just ignore, and attempts to interfere with his warping. Vegetto struggles with the powerful force field Buu creates around himself. So much, Vegetto actually has to input effort to crack it. Eventually, Vegetto gets through to Buu, and punches him in the face, interfering with his Dimensional Warp. The determined Buu doesn't stop there, as he isn't ready to give up just yet. Buu then starts to use Gotenks's Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack.

Only now, the miniature ghosts are versions of Buu. Buu assembles them all, and unleashes them on Vegetto. Vegetto plays with the ghost for a few minutes, then gets serious and blasts them all away. Buu, thinking Vegetto is gone, gets a surprise attack from him, and loses his head. Unfortunately, like all the attacks Vegetto has unleashed on Buu, Buu regenerates after the attack. Buu then attempts another head to head shot with Vegetto. He is horribly failing. Vegetto doesn't even look like he's putting in any effort.

File:255-89.jpg
Vegetto against an angry Buu

Buu is punched, impaled, kicked, sliced open, reversed, etc. Everything that he did on Vegetto either backfired, or it failed! He then decides to try another one of his abilities. He decides to turn Vegetto into a chocolate flavored jawbreaker. He tempts Vegetto to get close enough to him, so that he can use his Head Tentacle on the Saiyan. Vegetto's cockiness gets in the way, and Buu blasts the Saiyan with his Henka Beam attack. Vegetto is turned into a candy, and Buu seems to have defeated the powerful warrior.

All seems lost, when Buu realizes the candy is acting funny. Buu then punches himself while holding the candy. Vegetto then begins to speak to Buu, in his candy form. Buu is shocked, and horrified that Vegetto is able to control himself, more or less talk to him. Vegetto tells Buu he is able to do just about everything he could do before, and maybe something a little extra. Buu, feeling Vegetto in his current state is no threat, takes the pint size Saiyan as a joke.

Buu then tries to eat Vegetto, but can't seem to get a hold of him. Vegetto is too fast and small, and is instead chomping all over Buu. Vegetto slaps him, he even confuses Buu as to where he is. Buu finally gets a hold of the candy sized Saiyan, and tries to eat him. But Vegetto impales Buu through his throat, slicing off his Head Tentacle. Buu realizes Vegetto may even be more deadlier than before. Vegetto encourages Buu to change him back, by telling him he can't attack something so fast and small. Buu is motivated enough, and changes Vegetto back into his normal self.

File:257-24.jpg
Buu is shocked at his new opponent, Candy Vegetto

Buu cannot believe his own candy turning technique failed him. Vegetto seems to be too much for Buu, yet the pink monster seems to be determined. He tries yet another head to head combat with Vegetto. Yet, just as before, he fails. Vegetto punches, kicks, and just manhandles Buu all over. He even blasts a hole through Buu, to where Buu doesn't even regenerate thoroughly. Buu gets mad again, and throws all his might on Vegetto. He's moving much faster than before, but Vegetto just dodges everything.

Vegetto then fires a huge blast at Buu, incinerating much of Buu. Vegetto punches the wounded Buu in his face, and fires a wave of Ki at him, destroying the remains. However, Buu regenerates. Vegetto decides it's time to end the battle once and for all. Buu starts to panic, and doesn't know what to do next. Vegetto gives Buu 10 seconds to prepare for death, and tells him to do whatever he feels like in that time period.

File:257-91.jpg
Buu finally wins by absorbing Vegetto

Vegetto mentions that Buu can still perform "that technique" he has. Buu doesn't know what to do, and starts to sweat heavily. He starts to understand that Vegetto is superior to him, but he doesn't understand how to defeat him. He tries one final thing. Buu's tentacle from when Vegetto was a candy, was on the ground. As Vegetto counts to 7, Buu sees the chance and takes it. Vegetto is now at 9, and Buu streches his tentacle, and engulfs Vegetto. This ends the battle, with Buu coming out on top. However, Vegetto was waiting for that moment. He could've easily destroyed Buu at any given moment and could have escaped the goo, but yet he toyed around with him. This is because he wanted Buu to absorb him, to free all his companions and family members. Buu then goes on a rampage, and Vegetto is left within him to free everyone. But, when they enter Buu's body, the magic of the earrings somehow wear off, and Vegetto become Kakarot and Vegeta.

Vegetto's Strength

Vegetto is by far the strongest warrior in Dragon Ball Z and this is canonically proven. In a non-canonical filler in the anime adaptation of the Buu Saga, Vegetto is shown to be stronger than Mystic Gohan without transforming into a Super Saiyan. In the canonical manga however, Vegetto transforms into a Super Saiyan directly after fusion, hence his canonical base power is unknown.

Vegetto has access to all techniques used by either Goku or Vegeta, and has created several new techniques. Vegetto is extremely tough. Even when he is turned into candy, he still controls all of his strength. No matter what Buu did, even entering his body to try to gain control, even absorbing him, Vegetto was still 100% in control.

Vegetto acts very arrogant because he wants to be absorbed by Super Buu and be able to save the others. Everything he does was in order to accomplish this main objective. Normally, a fusion with the Potara fusion earrings can never be broken up, but Goku and Vegeta were split because of the physics within Buu's body.

Characteristics

Vegetto is by far the most relaxed and confident character ever introduced in Dragon Ball history. His motives are just fresh, and his reasons are obvious. Unlike Gogeta, Vegetto tempted his opponent. While fighting Super Buu, Vegetto knew he was the dominant fighter. However, he prolonged his destruction of Buu in order to save those trapped inside, who Buu had absorbed. Gogeta did not have to worry about saving anyone, except by destroying Ii Shenron (Omega Shenron). Vegetto has no competition with his power, and is therefore known to be extremely confident about his capabilities.

Special Abilities

File:Super Vegeto Five Finger Renzokou Kikouha.jpg
Super Vegeto's Five Finger Renzokou Kikouha

Renzokou Kikouha

(Banshee Blast) Vegetto reaches out with his right hand, body hunched over somewhat with all five of his fingers pointed at his opponent. In DBZ fashion, he calls out the name of this attack while charging up five small yellow orbs of energy, one at the tip of each finger on his right hand. After doing so, he launches the orbs at his opponent. However, the fashion in which Vegetto used this was in a different matter. As Super Buu had sent a wave of Kamikaze Ghosts, Vegetto used this attack to destroy them before they could do any amount of damage.

File:Vegitoblast.jpg
Vegetto fires his Spirit Sword

Ki no Tsurugi

(Flash Sword, Spirit Sword, Beam Sword) A blade created from pure, condensed ki(energy) around the right hand and formed into a sword-like object. It is usually roughly around twenty feet in length, and yet can be controlled to become longer or shorter, at Vegetto's will. The cutting power of the blade cannot truly be measured very accurately, but using the attacks upon Super Buu as a gauge, it seems that this sword has incredible strength. Because this sword is created by a single usage of ki, and can continue to be used without dying out like a projectile, this could be considered one of Vegetto's most devastating attacks.

File:Jawbreaker3.jpg
The new Candy Vegetto

Fighting Candy

After being turned into a coffee-flavored jawbreaker by Buu so that he can be consumed, Vegetto is still able to fight as a small candy. Some consider this to be (ironically) Vegetto's most dangerous form, since he not only retains all of his power, but is far too small for Buu to hit and beats his enemies up. He is extremely fast in this form. However, whereas his size gives him a colossal advantage in battle, he is completely vulnerable at this point. Vegetto is unable to use any special abilities, rendering him unable to kill guys like Cell and Buu as long as they can regenerate fast enough, even though they would be beaten to death. This is however, a special ability because no one else possesses it.

File:BigyBang.jpg
Vegetto aims for his Big Bang Attack

Vegetto: Big Bang Attack

This special type of Big Bang mixed with a Kamehameha is much different from Gogeta's special. Vegetto's version of the Big Bang attack is much more powerful, because it is indeed a fusion of the regular Kamehameha, and the Big Bang Attack. Vegetto extends his left arm towards his target, and stiffens all his fingers upwards. He then begins to power up, firing a powerful beam of energy, that instead of come crashing down like a meteor, fires straight towards the target inflicting painful damage. It has the straight beam feature like Goku's Kamehameha, the aim of both, and the power of the Big Bang Attack. It's a wonderful attack, thats very agile and swift for quick damage.

File:257-78.jpg
Vegetto about to fire his Kamehameha

Kamehameha

Much more powerful version of Goku's Kamehameha. Vegetto performs the exact same stance of Goku would. He puts both his arms together towards the right side of his waist, forming a ball of energy. Vegetto's Kamehameha glows much brighter than anyone else's, and it's yellow or gold, not blue, and as a result inflicts potent damage. When he is ready, Vegetto will unleash the attack, yelling "Kaa-mehh-haaa-mehh-haaaaa!" His Kamehameha incinerates anything it touches, whereas Goku's only blasts it away. He performed that attack once on Buu, which indeed hurt him very badly.

File:257-66.jpg
Vegetto powers up and aims his Spirit Cannon

Spirit Cannon

Very similar to Spirit Sword, except the energy doesn't fan out like a sword. It also doesn't pierce or penetrate through its target. It's more of a blast than a "tool". Vegetto points towards his target, while preparing for the attack. It charges up, and then blasts whatever the target was. It is quite powerful, and can easily kill the target in a momentary hit. Vegetto did perform this attack on Buu, but he managed to regenerate from its horrible and painful effects on him. It has a slightly different effect in the Dragonball Budokai Games, with Vegetto extending his hand towards the enemy, becoming surrounded by yellow energy and releasing a powerful yellow energy blast, instead of a constant beam of energy.

Final Kamehameha (Semi-Canon)

This is one of or perhaps even the strongest attack that Vegetto performs on Super Buu. This attack is semi-canon since the name was not vocalised in the anime and was not seen in the manga at all. This attack is a combination blend of the Final Flash and the Kamehameha wave. Vegetto puts both of his hands in front of him, combines the energy of the Final Flash and the Kamehameha into a compact bright white ball with a bluish glow and is surrounded by a blue aura. The ball is only about the size of Vegetto himself. Vegetto fires off the ball, which creates a gigantic explosion on contact and leaves a huge cloud of smoke behind. The charge up and hand positions are a bit different in the video games, where Vegetto charges it like a Final Flash and fires it like the Kamehameha. Vegetto uses this technique to blow off Super Buu's left arm, small parts of his right arm antenna, both of his legs, and batter up the rest of his body quite a bit. This attack is available to Vegetto in the Playstation game, Dragonball: Final Bout. After pressing Down, Back, Forward, Triangle, he yells, "O tsurugi wa koitsu da! FAINARU KAMEHAMEHA!" This has never been seen before in the anime or manga. Also in the game DBZ Shin-Budokai, he has this attack and he simply says "Final Kamehameha!" when performed.

Forms/Transformations

File:Vegito23.jpg

Vegetto

This is Vegetto's base form. This form is first seen when he is first fused. In this form, he is immensely powerful. At this stage, Vegetto's strength is far greater than a Super Saiyan 3's. He is able to overwhelm Super Buu w/Gohan in this form. However, Vegetto wouldn't much dominate Buu if he were to sustain this form, as it was shown Buu could've landed a few punches and attack on the Saiyan. The power of the Potara Earrings gave Vegetto far more than enough power, making him completely invincible to all characters. Even at this stage, Vegetto would still be considered the strongest character in the whole entire series. However, he is able to make a transformation and substancially increase his power and abilities.

File:255-10.jpg
Super Vegetto

Super Vegetto

Much to Buu's dismay, Vegetto revealed he could transform, and increase his power. When he was first fused into a normal state (normal Vegetto), he was already far stronger than a Super Saiyan 3, however once he transformed into Super Vegetto, he became truly unstoppable. When transformed, he completely dominated Super Buu w/Gohan. With Vegetto transformed, he gained a slight increase in muscle. Everything else remains the same, except for features such as:Golden hair, eyebrows, and aura (with occasional surges of blue electricity). Vegetto called himself in this new form "Super Vegetto". Super Vegetto is completely invincible against Buu. He hardly exerted himself in battle, and was in absolute control of the fight. Super Vegetto is classified as the most powerful transformation or character in the entire Dragon Ball Z Saga.

Episode Appearances

Vegetto unfortunately had a very brief appearance in Dragon Ball Z. He was only seen within 4 Episodes, of the whole entire series. He made an appearance within the Buu Saga, more specifically the Fusion Saga. He briefly fought the powerful Super Buu who had absorbed all the powerful fighters he faced. Vegetto, even though had a brief role in the series, had great controversies about his power. Because he was defeating Buu so bad, he was automatically given the title as the most powerful being than even anything in GT. The following are the episodes in which Vegetto appeared in:
