Chua En Lai (born 1979) is a Singaporean stage and television actor, best known for his work on the Mediacorp Channel 5 sitcom The Noose.
Early life
Chua was born in Singapore and raised in New Zealand. He lived in New Zealand for 12 years, before moving back to Singapore.[1]
He has also expressed an interest in singing, having joined the Singapore Armed Forces Choir.[citation needed]
Career
Chua has worked on over 30 theatre productions with groups such as Wild Rice!, Toy Factory, Spell#7, SRT, TheatreWorks, The Necessary Stage and Action Theatre.[2]
On television, Chua is known for his roles as B.B.See (See Beh Biang) and Jacques Ooi in the Mediacorp Channel 5 sitcom The Noose.
Chua has worked with Krishen Jit on several productions, including Squeeze & Squeezability, Plunge and The Visit of the Tai Tai.
In 2011, Chua starred as a platoon commander in The Ghosts Must Be Crazy, a two-part comedy horror film directed by Mark Lee and Boris Boo.[3]
Chua is also a member of the Association of Singapore Actors.
In 2013, Chua expressed an interest in moving to more dramatic roles.[4]

Awards
As a stage actor, Chua was named Best Actor for his work in Shopping & F***ing at the 2002 DBS Life! Theatre Awards and was part of the cast of Bent, the Play of the Year at the 2004 ST Life! Theatre Awards.
Chua was part of the duo that made Fundamentally Happy the Best Play at the 2007 ST Life! Theatre Awards.[5]
In 2008, Chua won the Actor of the Year award at the Elle Awards for Elle (magazine).[6]
In 2010, Chua won the Best Comedy Performance By An Actor/Actress at Asian Television Awards for his performance on The Noose.[7]
