Rigveda Wiki (Template:Lang-ko) is a Korean wiki started on March 1, 2007. It has more than 200,000 articles as of July 17, 2013, and this makes it the third largest Korean-language wiki following Korean Wikipedia and Korean Wiktionary. This wiki focuses on a wide range of topics.
History
on March 9, 2012, Rigveda wiki was separated from Angelhalo and became a independent website. [2]
On Agusut 2, 2013, Rigveda wiki opened its beta service and the layout of website has changed. Also people now can easily use Rigveda wiki from Smartphones. [3]
Feature
It is based on wiki system which anyone can add and edit information. People can write as logged in members or anonymous editors signing with their IP address. It is neither a reliable encyclopedia nor pursuing to be so. The users can more freely write any articles than Wikipedia, and they can put their opinions in too. [4] By being able to do so, Rigveda wiki has more articles about popculture topics such as cartoons, animations, games, and television programs. It has 'Rigveda wiki board' which is a discussion board for discussing things, questioning, and answering about the articles. [5]
Unlike Wikipedia where only the administrator can delete an article, Rigveda wiki users can delete the articles without administrator. But since the editing log remains, people can restore it any time, and one needs to ask the administrator to delete the log permanently.[6]
It can have deletions lines. [7]
NPOV
This term stands for Neutral Point of View, but some people also interpret this as Nothing Polity of View in Rigveda Wiki. The NPOV of Rigveda wiki is different from Wikipedia NPOV. Since Rigveda wiki is mainly based in Korea, Korean laws directly affect Rigveda wiki, everything written in Rigveda wiki puts Korea's opinion first. For example, in Rigveda wiki, people say 'our country' which means Korea. [8]
Critics
Enhawiki itself introduces a place which is full of information which is useless or related to subcultures like otakus. It is less objective then Wikipedia. It allows guessing, individual opinions, and rumors without any reliable sources and this makes it includes inaccurate information which is very likely to be disputed. [9]
Wike Neet
This term is used to describe people who spend a lot of time in Enhawiki. People think that they don't have any special purpose on their lives and spend their time just doing nothing. [10]
Preserving memory
Rigveda Wiki is a place to preserve social memory. Sinking of the MV Sewol was a horrible memory for South Koreans, and they don't want to forget about this. Rigveda Wiki was one of the websites used to record people's thoughts on this incident. As a result, in only a week, 3,4000 words were added to related article on that wiki.[11]
