Enemies
Air Bag
An enemy from the game Yoshi's Story. A mystery box might, instead of exploding to reveal goodies, turn out to be the home of this fellow. He would blow gusts of wind at players until defeated through the use of eggs.
Attack Sack
Ball-shaped enemy with large teeth. Appears in Yoshi's Story.
Bandit
Bandits are tall and sneaky Shy Guy-like characters that first appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. In Yoshi's Island, Bandits and Shy Guys were two of the most common enemies. But Bandits, however, were also available the enemy that Yoshi would verse in the unlockable mini games. Also, if the player uses a cheat to unlock the mini games, another person can use another controller to play as a Bandit in certain mini games. He wore a fake Yoshi mask in the seed shooting game. Some bandits were red instead of the standard blue, and contained a red coin. He also appears in the Dry Dry Desert in Paper Mario.
Barney Bubble
A tiny purple creature that blows bubbles when stomped on. It appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Baron Von Zeppelin
Balloon with a smiley face that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Can carry beneficial items, such as crates, stars, and coins, or harmful items such as explosives and Shy Guys.
Baseball Boy
A creature that looks like Bandit, attacks by hitting with bat and by throwing Yoshi eggs. It appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Birdie
Enemy from Yoshi's Story. Birdies fly in swarms.
Black Bomb Shy Guy
Flying Shy Guy who attempts to drop bombs on top of Yoshi in Yoshi's Story.
Black Shy Guy
Drops items on top of Yoshi in Yoshi's Story.
Blurp
Can swallow Yoshi whole in Yoshi's Story. A blue variation exists, which shoots water at Yoshi.
Blow Hard
A cactus enemy that spits spiny seeds at Yoshi in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Blow Hards could be temporarily stunned by ground pounding near them.
Blusty
An enemy from Yoshi Touch & Go that is similar to Gusty.
Bob-ombs
Small, black walking bombs with eyes. Appear in Yoshi's Story.
Bomb Berry
Prickly berry which falls from trees in Yoshi's Story.
Bone Dragon
Enemy in Yoshi's Story. Must be stomped on twice or hit in the head with eggs twice to defeat.
Boos
Main article:Boo
Boos are small, round ghosts that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Most Boos will freeze if looked at directly, only to attack Yoshi once he turns his backs. The varieties of Boos include: Big Boo, who is essentially a larger version of the standard Boo, Boo Balloon, who is a baloon version of a Boo who does not freeze if looked at directly, and Boo Man Bluff, a large orange blindfolded Boo, who does not freeze if looked at directly. In Yoshi's Story, a blind variation exists, which approaches on basis of sound rather than sight, as well as a Slime Boo.
Boo Guy
The ghosts of Shy Guys that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Two variations known as "Greaper" and "Glum Reaper" appear in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
Boshi
Yoshi's racing rival on Yoshi Island in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
Bullet Bill
A large green bullet shot out of a cannon that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. An orange version (called Bouncing Bullet Bill) also appears, and as his name implies, he bounces off of hard surfaces after being shot. A red version appears in the GBA remake of Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. The red Bullet Bill gnashed his teeth and homed in on Yoshi. Also appears in Yoshi's Story.
They are small, bouncy penguins that appear in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Yoshi's Story, Paper Mario, and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
Burt
It is a strange hopping creature usually paired up with a partner in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Cactus Jack
A bouncing cactus that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Caged Ghost
A ghost that emerges from behind a cage in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Chomp
Main article: Chomp
A black ball with eyes and sharp teeth. Chomps appear in three forms, Chain Chomps which are bound to a chain and can only be defeated using a POW, standard Chomps which fly in from the background and attempt to defeat Yoshi, and the Shark Chomp, which chase Yoshi through several levels. When a Shark Chomp bit a hard platform, it would break its tooth, cry, and fall. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yohsi's Island and Yoshi's Story.
Clam
Blows bubbles at Yoshi in Yoshi's Story. Can use these bubbles to make Yoshi hit a Sea Cactus.
Clawdaddy
A large crab with a large claw that appears to have a cloud as a body and stars in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It can only be defeated by hitting its body with eggs. It twirls and bangs its claw to attack Yoshi and deflect eggs.
Cloud Drop
A small teardrop shaped enemy similar to a Gusty which appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It moves in a set direction, either horizontally or vertically.
Crazee Dayzee
A singing enemy that looks like a flower. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Another variation of the Crazee Dayzee, the Bubble Dayzee, can shoot bubbles at Yoshi.
Dangling Ghost
A spirit which dangles from the ceiling of various castles in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Dizzy Dandy
An enemy that disguises itself as a flower in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Doctor Freezegood
A skiing snowman that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Also rides ski lifts.
Eel
An electric eel enemy appearing in water in Yoshi's Story.
Eggo-Dil
An enemy flower that launches its petals in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Fang
A small blue bat that flies in a spiral pattern. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. If Yoshi tries to eat one, then spits it out, Fag will retreat from Yoshi.
Fat Guy
A fat Shy Guy who, when eaten, becomes a bigger egg that causes earthquakes. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Fireballs
Appear in Yoshi's Story. Fireballs attempt to jump at and attack Yoshi.
Flamer Guy
A fast Shy Guy who is on fire. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Allows Yoshi to breathe fire if he tries to eat one.
Fire Guy
A Shy Guy with a torch, who attempts to attack Yoshi in Yoshi's Story.
Flopsy Fish
A red and yellow fish who leaps out of the water in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Fly Guy
A flying Shy Guy. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Sometimes carry red coins, 1ups, stars, or coins. A variation is the Whirly Fly Guy, which flashes different colors. When hit with seveal eggs, the Whirly Fly Guy will give Yoshi a 1up.
Flying Wiggler
An orange caterpillar with wings who appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Frog Pirate
A large frog enemy that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story.
Fuzzy
An enemy which causes Yoshi to hallucinate in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Fuzzy Wiggly
An enemy appearing in Yoshi's Story. Jumping on all sections of the Fuzzy Wiggly will give Yoshi a watermelon.
Gabon
Throws spiked balls at Yoshi in Yoshi's Story. Can roll down hills.
Gargantua Blaarg
Gargantua Blaarg, first appearing in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, has appeared seldomly in the mario series. He subsides in lava rivers and his minions are Flamer Guys (or Pyro Guys), a subset of Shy Guys.
Georgette Jelly
A jelly enemy that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. She is red and yellow.
Goomba
A mushroom shaped enemy who appears in many Mario games including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Yoshi's Island Goombas flatten when stomped upon, and will eventually return to normal height.
Goonie
A winged bird that usually travels in a group in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Goonies can be ridden on by Yoshi. Bowling Goonies also appeared, some with wings which attempted to fly (but simply bounced, known as Hefty Goonies) and some without who acted very similar to a Chomp Rock. Flightless Goonies are also, and simply run in a line at Yoshi, usually in a group. Flying and Flightless Goonies also have a skeleton form.
Grim Leecher
A ghostly creature that reverses the player's controls in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It is purple with a skull as a head/face.
Grunt
The Grunt is an enemy that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The Grunt wears a spiked hat and appears in Marching Milde's fort. If it hooks onto Yoshi, the button commands will reverse.
Gusty
A windsock-shaped enemy which appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Like a Fang, a Gusty will rapidly retreat if Yoshi attempts to eat it, then spits it out. Gusties fly horizontally across the whole screen.
Harry Hedgehog
A small hedgehog creature with blue spikes that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Grows larger if approached by Yoshi.
Hootie the Blue Fish
A slow swimming fish who prowls in the pipes of Naval Piranha's castle in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It cannot be defeated, only temporarily disabled with eggs. It attempts to swallow Yoshi. It's name is based on the band Hootie & the Blowfish.
Hornet's Nest
A nest of hornets in Yoshi's Story. Unaffected by eggs.
Hot Lips
A large, red creature which appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It can shoot lava at Yoshi.
Huffin' Puffin
A large white puffin in striped overalls that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It can push Yoshi, but cannot directly harm him. Yoshi can use Huffin' Puffin's three children like eggs (although they function like boomerangs, usually coming back to Yoshi) by jumping on Huffin' Puffin then running through his children as if he was collecting eggs.
Jean de Fillet
A skeleton fish that swims in lava. Basically the equivalent of Flopsy Fish. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, in Tap Tap the Red Nose's fort.
Jellyfish
Aquatic enemies in Yoshi's Story. Exists in three colors. Different colors mean different movement patterns.
Kaboomba
A small, walking cannon that can fire cannonballs at Yoshi. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Kamek
A Magikoopa who appears at the start of all boss battles. He is the main antagonist of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Lakitu
A orange creature that appears in several Mario games, including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Story. Lakitu appeared in five forms in Yoshi's Island: Aqua Lakitu which swam with a snorkel and launched spiked balls at Yoshi, Fishing Lakitu, which used a fishing pole to try to abduct Baby Mario, regular Lakitu, who rode on a cloud and lobbed spiked balls at Yoshi, Thunder Lakitu, who rode on a cloud and threw fireballs at Yoshi, and Wall Lakitu who appeared from holes in walls and threw spiked balls at Yoshi. In Yoshi's Story, Lakitu can also throw rocks at Yoshi and squirt water.
Lantern Ghost
A small creature found in the cave levels of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, who carries a lantern. Moves exactly like a Shy Guy
Lava Bubble
Small bubbles of lava which jump vertically from lava pits in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Eating one of these grants Yoshi the ability to breathe fire.
Lava Drop
Similar to the Cloud Drop, but composed of lava. Does not spawn from lava like the Lava Bubble. Cannot Be eaten or defeated. Has a smiling face, and appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Lemon Drop
A small green drop of slime with eyes, that could be defeated with eggs or by stomping upon it. Served as a boss in level 1-8 and as a mini-boss in level 6-4 of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Little Mouser
A small blue mouse that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Little Mousers will try to steal eggs from Yoshi. Sometimes Little Mouser's wear skulls on their heads.
Loch Nestor
A spiny, red fish which appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It grows larger when hit by an egg.
Lunge Fish
A large fish which attempts to grab Yoshi in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. If engulfed by this fish, Yoshi automatically loses a life.
Mace Guy
A Shy Guy that swings a mace. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Melon Bug
A small, striped bug that rolls into a ball when Yoshi approaches in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It is completely harmless to Yoshi. In level 1-7, there is a way to use a Melon Bug to gain unlimited 1ups.
Milde
A small balloon-like enemy, somewhat reminiscent of Kirby, that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Exploded when jumped on.
Mock Up
A balloon with the writing "1up" on it. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Quickly inflates, and will explode if not eaten.
Monkey
Appeared in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Could eat watermelons and spit seeds at Yoshi, drop explosives on top of Yoshi, or form a chain with several other Monkeys and abduct Baby Mario. Could be stunned if jumped on, and eventually defeated if it was attacked while stunned.
Muddy Buddy
A small purple creature that can be used to cross spikes in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Mufti Guy
A Shy Guy with yellow flowers on top of its head. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Needlenose
A smiling prickly enemy spit out by various enemies in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Nep-enut
A huge river monster, similar to the Blaarg, that appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Nipper Plant
A white Pacman shaped plant formed when a Paranipper Plant touches the ground. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, as well as Yoshi's Story.
Pak E. Derm
Elephant-like enemy appearing in Yoshi's Story. Can only be defeated with a ground pound.
Paranipper Plant
A small, red and white plant which forms a Nipper Plant upon contact with the ground. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Yoshi can eat these, but cannot turn them into eggs.
Piranha Plant
A red plant with white spots which will swallow Yoshi. Appears in many Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi's Story. A variation exists called the Wild Ptooie Piranha Plant, which shoots Needlenoses at Yoshi, and must be hit with an egg three times to defeat.
Piranha Sprouts
Fly around and temporarily disable Yoshi if they manage to capture him. Appears in Yoshi's Story. Can be defeated with eggs.
Piscatory Pete
A fish that is found in submarine sections in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Pokey
A green cactus with a Needlenose on top of him. Only appears in one level in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Preying Mantas
A jellyfish that is found in submarine sections in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Purple Spike Creture
Spiked enemy appearing in Yoshi's Story.
Raven
Small black birds that encircle miniature globes in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Also appears in Yoshi's Story. There are two types of Ravens; one is smaller than Yoshi and one is relatively the same size of Yoshi. Serves as a boss in level 5-8 of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Sea Cactus
Dangerous underwater plants found in Yoshi's Story. Work in conjunction with Clams to damage Yoshi.
Sea Flower
Guards melons in Yoshi's Story with its stinging tentacles.
Shy Fly
Appears in Yoshi's Story. Carries items such as melons.

Shy Guy Sub
Fire homing torpedoes at Yoshi in Yoshi's Story.
Sluggy
A small pinkish sluglike creature with little hair. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Serves as a boss in level 5-4.
Snifit
A red, masked creature that appears in many Mario games including Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Shoots bullets from its round mouth.
Snorkel Fish
An aquatic enemy from Yoshi's Story. Attempts to home in on Yoshi.
Spear Guy
A savage Shy Guy that weilds a spear and shield, and appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Spider
Spider enemy in a web that appears in Yoshi's Story.
Spike
A penguin that throws a mace at Yoshi. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Spiked Fun Guy
A tiny, spiked, green character appearing in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. A variation of the Spiked Fun Guy is the Potted Spiked Fun Guy.
Spooky
A ghostlike disguise worn by Bandits and Shy Guys. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Spray Fish
A purple fish which sprays a stream of water at Yoshi. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Stilt Guy
A Shy Guy on stilts. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Could only be eaten by Yoshi from behind. Can also be defeated by jumping on its head, or pusing off of a cliff with tongue (from front only).
Stretch
A taller than normal Shy Guy. Spits out Watermelon Seeds if stepped on. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Support Ghost
A ghost that is more of an ally than an enemy in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. Has a green platform on its head and serves as a carrier in two levels.
Tap Tap
A spiked enemy who could only be defeated by being pushed off of a cliff in Super Mario World 2: Yohsi's Island. There are two varieties of Tap Taps, one that hops and one that walks. Served as a boss in level 6-4 and as a mini-boss in level 6-8.
TeeHee Butterfly
Butterfly enemy appearing in Yoshi's Story. Causes Yoshi to lose petals if a blue TeeHee Butterfly is eaten.
Train Bandit
Small white enemy that appears on train levels in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Woozy Guy
A jumping version of the Shy Guy. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
Yellow Worm
A rare wormlike enemy in Yoshi's Story.
Zeus Guy
A Bandit like enemy, can shoot out powered up energy balls, can only be hurt with items. Appears in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.
