French Bean (also known as Bean 2) is a comedy movie in development starring Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean to be released in 2007.
It will be the second film based on the television series Mr. Bean, following the 1997 film Bean. News of the second movie first broke in early 2005, suggesting that it would be written by Simon McBurney, although in December 2005, Atkinson confirmed that the screenplay was being written by himself and longtime collaborator Richard Curtis. [1] Atkinson also said that French Bean will be the last Mr. Bean story. [2]
Unlike the 1997 Mel Smith film, French Bean will be directed by Steve Bendelack.[3]. This film began filming on May 15, 2006.[4].
A basic plot has been revealed:
"Mr. Bean travels to the South of France, and unexpectedly gets his video diary entered into the Cannes Film Festival."
