Mary Rose Spiller is a horticulturist and teacher, working at Waterperry Gardens, previously Waterperry Horticultural School, near Thame in Oxfordshire, until her 90th year. Mary is the younger daughter of Reginald Spiller (Reader in Crystallography at Oxford University until his death in 1953) and his wife Olive.
