Samanage is an enterprise service desk and IT asset management provider headquartered in Cary, North Carolina[1]. The company’s flagship product is Samanage, a true multi-tenant, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)[2] solution for IT and enterprise service management[3]. To date, Samanage has more than 600 customers in 51 countries.

History

Founded in 2007 by Doron Gordon[4], Samanage first delivered an IT asset management[5] solution to the market in 2010 after a three year development and testing period. This was followed by a service management[6] functionality in 2011, after development and testing over two years.

Product

The Samanage application[7] is a unified, cloud-based IT service desk and asset management platform. The asset management solution is an agent-based system that collects data from Windows, Mac, Linux, and Unix systems, and then normalizes and categorizes the data for simplified consumption. The ITIL-ready[8] service desk includes a self-service portal, service catalog, and knowledge base.

As a SaaS solution, Samanage is written in Ruby on the Rails[9] framework. The application integrates with several other important SaaS applications such as Google Apps, Dropbox, Zendesk, Salesforce, OneLogin, Okta, Centrify, Citrix GoToAssist, and Zapier[10]. The Samanage REST API[11] allows customers to integrate with hundreds of other applications.

Samanage can quickly deploy application updates that are immediately available to all customers. There is no concept of versions and releases and the application is “always new.”

Growth

In 2011, Samanage increased to 100 customers and closed $3 million in venture funding from Carmel Ventures[12]. Samanage received it’s first institutional funding in 2012 from Gemini Israel Ventures[13] and expanded to 20 employees. Samanage doubled its customer base by Q4 of 2012 with 200 customers. Samanage extended its record of annual growth greater than 250% in 2013 and increased the employee count to 30. Samanage ended 2014 with tripled annual growth[14] over 3 consecutive years.
