Flexera Software is an American computer software company based in Itasca, Illinois.[1] Flexera Software is a private equity backed company, with more than 70,000 customers.[2] Flexera Software provides software licensing, compliance and installation solutions for application producers and mid to large enterprises. The company's products include InstallShield, InstallAnywhere, FlexNet Publisher and AdminStudio.[3] The company has approximately 600 employees worldwide, among which 200 are located in its Chicago-area headquarters.[4] The company has been named a Top Chicago workplace by the Chicago Tribune in 2012, 2013, and 2014.[5]

History

The company used to be the Rovi Corporation's software division (at the time it was still named Macrovision). On 1 April 2008, Macrovision sold its software division to the Thoma Cressey Bravo investment fund.[6]

In October 2009, Acresso Software, Inc. became Flexera Software.[7]

On July 19, 2011 Thoma Cressey Bravo sold a majority stake in Flexera Software LLC to Teachers' Private Capital, the private investment department of the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. The transaction was finalized on October 3, 2011.

Products & Technology

Flexera Software’s products focus on software licensing, compliance and installation for application producers (software vendors, intelligent device manufacturers, and Internet of Things device manufacturers), and enterprise customers that utilize business software. [8] [9] Flexera Software’s product offerings include: FlexNet Manager Suite, AdminStudio Suite, AdminStudio Mobile Pack, App Portal, FlexNet Producer Suite.

FlexNet Manager Suite

FlexNet Manager Suite is Software License Optimization software that tracks and manages an enterprise’s software licenses. The FlexNet Manager Suite analyzes licensing terms and entitlements, using application recognition and product use rights libraries to determine what software has been installed, deployed and used. AdminStudio Suite

AdminStudio Suite is an Application Readiness product that supports application rationalization, packaging, compatibility testing, remediation and migrations, for example: Windows operating system migrations, application and desktop virtualization, etc. [11]

AdminStudio Mobile Pack enables centralized management of mobile apps. It performs testing of mobile apps for compatibility, configuration and runs security assessments. [12]

App Portal

App Portal is a universal enterprise app store solution. It allows a company’s employees to access and download company-approved desktop and mobile applications while managing back end processes like Software License Optimization, and license reclamation. [13] [14]

FlexNet Producer Suite is software for application producers. The software provides flexible licensing, customer entitlement management, electronic software delivery and customer self-service. [15]

Flexera Software also offers InstallShield and InstallAnywhere to automate Windows, multi-platform, Web, virtualized and cloud-based software installations. [16]
