- For other ships of this name, see Sovereign of the Seas.
MS Sovereign of the Seas is one of three large cruise ships of the Sovereign class operated by Royal Caribbean International. Launched on January 19, 1988, at the time of its launch it was the largest cruise ship in the world (though today, the largest cruise ships are nearly twice as large) at 73,192 gross tons. It is the flagship of RCI's Sovereign family of cruise ships, including the Monarch of the Seas and the Majesty of the Seas. Its godmother is Rosalyn Carter.
Sovereign of the Seas currently sails three- and four-day cruises to the Bahamas out of Port Canaveral, Florida. These cruises visit Coco Cay, one of RCI's privately-owned islands, in the Berry Islands group. It was last refurbished in 2004 and 2005.
