MSC Oscar is the largest container ship in the world (as of January 2015[update]).[3][4] Christened on 8 January 2015, the MSC Oscar assumed the title from the CSCL Globe inaugurated in November 2014.[5]
Name
The Oscar takes its name from the son of Diego Aponte, the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) president and chief executive.[2]
Construction
Oscar was build by Daewoo in South Korea for $140m.[2]
