Jamal Clint-Ross Blackman (born 27 October 1993) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Chelsea.[2]

Club career

Chelsea

Blackman joined Chelsea at U13 level and progressed through the club's youth system.[3] He made his first appearance in a senior match day squad in October 2011, sitting on the bench for a Premier League match against Arsenal.[4] He began to train regularly with the first team squad in the 2011–12 season and was an ever present as Chelsea U18 won that seasons FA Youth Cup.[5] He however did not get any first team playtime but was selected as a 3rd choice goalkeeper. After a season, he received a winners medal for the 2012–13 Europa League, despite not featuring in the competition.

Blackman signed a new five-year contract with the club in June 2014.[6]

Loan to Middlesbrough

On 31 August 2014, Blackman joined Championship club Middlesbrough on loan until January 2015.[7] He made his full debut on 23 September 2014 against Liverpool in the third round of the League Cup as Boro drew 2–2 after 120 minutes but lost 13–14 in the resulting penalty shoot-out. His save from Raheem Sterling's shot forced the shootout to sudden death, in which Blackman scored against opposition goalkeeper Simon Mignolet from the spot.[8] On 6 January 2015, following Mark Schwarzer's departure from Chelsea, Blackman was recalled from his loan spell to work as the third goalkeeper with the first-team squad behind Thibaut Courtois and Petr Čech. [9]

International career

Blackman has represented England at U16, U17 and U19 level. In August 2014 he received his first call up for England U21 team.[10]
