How does City Year relate to the Gap Year concept?
For the recent HS grads involved in City Year, does it represent a Gap year before moving on to college? I'd be bold if I were more sure of my facts here. Myself248 (talk) 01:05, 12 October 2015 (UTC)

Initial Entries

This entry was written by City Year staff; that is a problem.

It's a problem, but not a fatal problem. I think we have helped move away from that. Carla Bondicteuresse 02:23, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Each site link at the bottom of page should link to own site's page keeping the City Year entry about the network as a whole. Keeps one site from having dominance over the City Year page. Additionally, this allows the nuances of each site's different programs to be found on their own page rather than confusing the main page.

I removed two badly-formatted chunks from the article, as they were more advert than information. If someone finds them relevant and can add them back with npov-justice, please do. -Shouriki 00:08, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

appplicable information not found or unsure of so far. Non-profit_type = origins = area_served = focus = method = endowment = num_volunteers ? num_employees = num_members = Non-profit_slogan = ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oldag07 (talkcontribs) 18:17, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Photos

I noticed that flickr has some free photos taken of the group, like this one. Should we select one or two and add them here? They seem to really convey the almost a military style discipline, to me it adds to an intuitive sense of the group. - Owlmonkey (talk) 19:26, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thirded. Can someone with more wikiformatting than I add that picture to the article? 24.164.164.132 (talk) 20:21, 12 April 2009 (UTC)I[reply]
I already put it up. Oldag07 (talk) 01:36, 15 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Edits

I appreciate all the hard work that many non registered wikipedians have put into this page. unfortunately most of the changes are directly from the City Year website. This is copyright infringement. Wikipedia:Copyright problems. I don't mind people writing about the sponsors. and trimming the various sections. but it has to be independently written, and sourced. Since many people seem to be wanting to make edits to this page, we should start discussing changes on this talk page before adding more stuff. Oldag07 (talk) 02:30, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I personally would like:

  • An expanded Heroes Section
  • A paragraph on City Year Culture:
    • PITW
    • Founding stories
    • PT
  • A summary of each site, maybe even a chart
    • Site Size,
    • Date of formation
    • ETC
  • More pictures, as seen above, we can get stuff free from flickr.

Tone of Introduction

It seems like a couple sentences in the introduction read like a promotion or advertisement and should be changed —Preceding unsigned comment added by Joshm22 (talkcontribs) 08:08, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is a note of concern because if some parents know of this, they would actively encourage having their teen to volunteer elsewhere.[reply]
