Ross McKitrick is a Canadian economist specializing in environmental economics and policy analysis. He is an associate professor of economics at the University of Guelph, and a senior fellow of the Fraser Institute.[2] He is a member of the academic advisory boards of the John Deutsch Institute, the Global Warming Policy Foundation,[1] and the Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation.[3]
He has authored works questioning the conventional views on climate change[4][5][2][6] including co-authoring the book Taken By Storm: The Troubled Science, Policy and Politics of Global Warming in 2003.[2] He continues to publish research in economics, usually in the area of environmental policy, authoring Economic Analysis of Environmental Policy in 2010. McKitrick also endorsed An Evangelical Declaration on Global Warming.[citation needed]
Background
McKitrick gained his doctorate in economics in 1996 from the University of British Columbia, and in the same year was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Guelph, Ontario. In 2001 he received an Associate Professorship and has been a full Professor since December 2008. He has also been a Senior Fellow of the Fraser Institute since 2002.He currently lives in Guelph, Ontario with his wife and two children.[1]
Writing
In 2002 with Christopher Essex, McKitrick co-wrote Taken By Storm, which was a runner-up for the Donner Prize.[1][7]
In 2007 McKitrick was co-author on a paper in the Journal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics arguing that "Physical, mathematical and observational grounds are employed to show that there is no physically meaningful global temperature for the Earth in the context of the issue of global warming".[8]
McKitrick was the organizer and chair of the International Workshop on Econometric Applications in Climatology in June 2013.[9]
