Jagtar Singh Hawara is a member of Babbar khalsa and currently He is in the custody of Indian law enforcement agencies under the charges of assassinating [[Beant Singh]].

Jagtar Singh Hawara has been appointed as [[Akal takht]] sahib's Jathedar by some Sikh radical groups in a public meeting but this appointment has not been recognized by [[SGPC]] and SGPC strictly against this appointment and strongly condemns it. According to SGPC, only SGPC could appoint Jathedars for Takhts and as SGPC is a elected body only SGPC has such rights.


On November 10, 2015, Jagtar Singh was appointed as the Jathedar of the Sri Akaal Takht by the Sarbat Khalsa. Jagtar Singh Hawara (Punjabi: ਜਗਤਾਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਹਵਾਰਾ) is the current Jathedar of Sri Akaal Takht Sahib, the highest Sikh religious seat.[1] He a member of Babbar Khalsa. He is convicted in the assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, who was killed by a human bomb in Chandigarh, on August 31, 1995, who was responsible for not taking any action against the mass killings of Sikh Youths.
