Armenian family, that ruled the region of Bznouqiq, Taron, Bidlis, Sasun, Bagrevand and others (c. 300-862)

The first know rulers were Vatche Mamikonian c. 330-339, and Vardan and Vasak Mamikonian, later than 339 (and later, after 355). They disppear some years and moved to Taik, but recovered positions c. 355. In 355 Vardan is the family chief, and then was Vasak. The first great leader of the family was this Vasak Mamikonian, the sparapet (general) that defend Armenia against Persia in 367-368, and that only was defeated by the treachery of Marujan Ardzruni. After the defeat many nakhararq (lords) moved to the persian side even Vahan Mamikonian, brother of Vasak. Later, with the defection of the persian governors, and the Roman help, the king Pap was crowned (370) and has as sparapet to Mouchel Maimikonian, son of Vasak, that defeated to the persians on all the country. Pap deceased in 374 and the crown was give by romans Varazdat, that, at first, cooperated with Mouchel. But under advise of Bat or Sembat Saharuni, Mouchel was killed and Sembat designated new Sparapet. Vatche Mamikonian led then the family, when Enmmanuel Mamikonian (brother of Mouchel)come back from Persia where was a hostage (togheter his brother Koms Mamikonian) Vatche give to Enmanuel the direction of the family. Mamikonian revolted and defetad the king Varazdat and Saharuni in Karin. Enmanuel and his sons Hemaiak and Artches captured the king that fled the country soon later. Enmanuel push the queen Zarmandukht (vidow of Pap) in the throne. Then made allegance to Persia and recognized a marzban in exchange of the respect of the local laws and autonomy. For four years Enmmanuel was regent togheter the queen, and later (384) was regent in name of Archak III (son of Pap), that was married to Vardandukh, daugther of Enmanuel; in 385 Enmanuel deceased and in 386 or 387 the country was conquered by Persia. Vahan Mamikonian and Samuel Mamikonian are quoted c. 390.

Other family members were Hamazasp I Mamikonian, married to Sahakanouch, ruling c. 393 three sons: Vardan I Mamikonian (+451), Hemaiak Mamikonian (+452) and Hamazaspian.

Hemaiak has four sons: Vahan (that has a son, Vard); Vasak, Artaches and Vard.

Vasak has two male son and a daugther: the male were Emmanuel Mamikonian (that has a son named Gaghik) and Vardan II Mamikonian. The name of the daugther is not know.

Vardan II Mamikonian has a son: Mamak Mamikonian (ruler c. 590)

The daughter of Vasak Mamikonian has a son named Mouchel II Mamikonian (deceased c. 591/593)

Kahan Gail Mamikonian was son of Mouchel. He ruled c. 591/593 to 604

His son was Sembat Mamikonian the Valiant, ruler later than 604. Sembat has a son called Mouchel III Mamikonian (deceased 640).

Mouchel III has two son: Grigor I Mamikonian (ruler c. 650) and Hamazasp Mamikonian (ruler c. 655)

For a century there's no more news of the family.

Circa 750 they lost Bzouniq (region of Khelat), Taron (Mouch) and Bidlis in front of the Bagratouni family

Artavadz Mamikonian was ruler c. 770 and then Mouchel IV Mamikonian (+772) and Samuel Mamikonian (also + 772). Their lands were occupated by Al-Djahab al-Qaisi (founder of the Qaisid dynasty of Manazkert) in 772, less Sasun and Bagrevand. In Sasun Kurdik Mamikonian was ruler c. 800. In Bagrevand was ruler Grigor II Mamikonian (c. 850) that lost his lands in front of muslims. Reconquered briefly by Grigor (860-862) were then occupated by Bagratouni family.
