Georgi Filipov Bokov (15 January 1920 – 1 June 1989) was a member of the Bulgarian communist partisan movement during the Second World War. Later, he became a leading member of the Bulgarian Communist Party and editor-in-chief of Rabotnichesko Delo, the official newspaper and organ of the Bulgarian Communist Party

Biography

Georgi Bokov was born in 1920 into a family of illiterate peasants Yakorouda. At the end of 1943, he became political commissar in the partisan unit "Nikola Parapunov." During communist rule, he was a longtime editor of officious "Workers Work" and president of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ).In 1989 he was posthumously expelled from the Union of Bulgarian Journalists on heavy charges.

Political Killings

According to several sources, Georgi Bokov was one of the murderers of the Bulgarian painter, intellectual, caricaturist-cartoonist, and writer Rayko Aleksiev in 1944. Union even rewards the documentary novel "Hot Red" Ivailo Alexandrova in which Georgi Bokov was listed as one of the killers of Rayko Aleksiev.The thesis comes from the testimony of the widow of murdered communists prominent Bulgarian painter, cartoonist and feuilletonist. After the coup on September 9 1944, Rayko Alexiev was arrested and accused of being a "public enemy" because he did caricatures of Stalin. He was placed in the House for the Blind, where they detained many other intellectuals and public figures. According Radoy Ralin, Georgi Bokov was beating and kicking Rayko Aleksiev with his boots. Others responsible for the tragic fate of Rayko Alexiev were Krum Kyulyavkov writer who has indicated and the commandant of the communist militia in Sofia Lev Glavinchev. After his the death of Rayko Aleksiev, the Communists party members confiscated his home and all his property in favor of "people's power".

Bokov's family

Georgi Bokov - is the father of the head of UNESCO Irina Bokova and Ambassador to Slovenia Filip Bokov. His son and daughter-in-law were killed in a car accident. In September 2009, in connection with the election of Irina Bokova as UNESCO chief writer of Bulgarian origin Ilija Trojanow wrote in the newspaper.
