Georgi Filipov Bokov (15 January 1920 – 1 June 1989) was a member of the Bulgarian communist partisan movement during the Second World War. Later, he became a leading member of the Bulgarian Communist Party and editor-in-chief of Rabotnichesko Delo, the official newspaper and organ of the Bulgarian Communist Party

Biography

Georgi Bokov was born in 1920 into a family of illiterate peasants Yakorouda. At the end of 1943, he became political commissar in the partisan unit "Nikola Parapunov." During communist rule, he was a longtime editor of officious "Workers Work" and president of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists (UBJ).In 1989 he was posthumously expelled from the Union of Bulgarian Journalists on heavy charges.

Bokov's family

Georgi Bokov[3] - is the father of the head of UNESCO Irina Bokova and Ambassador to Slovenia Filip Bokov. His son and daughter-in-law were killed in a car accident. In September 2009, in connection with the election of Irina Bokova as UNESCO chief writer of Bulgarian origin Ilija Trojanow wrote in the newspaper.
