James Guffey (born December 8, 1982 in Atlanta, Georgia) is an American professional wrestler, better known by his ring name, Jimmy Rave. Rave currently works on the independent circuit, most notably for Ring of Honor.
Career
Trained by wrestler Murder One, Jimmy Rave debuted in 1999 as masked wrestler "Mr. XTC " and has had notable feuds with such wrestlers as Tony Mamaluke, Shark Boy, AJ Styles and CM Punk. Rave wrestles for Ring of Honor as a member of The Embassy, a stable led by Prince Nana. He has also wrestled for the now defunct NWA Wildside promotion, Combat Zone Wrestling, Full Impact Pro and has made sporadic appearances for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.
Rave has gained notoriety for receiving excessive heel heat from ROH fans. In ROH it is common for fans to throw streamers over the wrestlers they support however Jimmy Rave has become a sort of cult recipient as nearly all the fans throw rolls of toilet paper at him. The toilet paper throwing has become so common that it is now considered a part of the Jimmy Rave entrance event, similar to the fans chanting "You Suck" at Kurt Angle. The fans have also been known to start chants of "Die Jimmy Die" and "Jimmy Swallows". By using moves such as the Pedigree to reference Triple H and a gimmick of stealing finishing moves of opponents and labelling them as his own he has capitalized on this heat and has incorporated it into his character.
On January 14, 2006 in Philadelphia, Rave and Alex Shelley of The Embassy attacked ROH World Heavyweight champion Bryan Danielson after a successful title defense. Shelley was set to face Danielson at the 4th Anniversary Show, but lost the title shot after Rave used his title shot earned at the Tag Wars 2006, but Rave lost his match with Danielson.
Recently, Rave has been tagging with Alex Shelley and/or Sal Rinauro in search for the ROH Tag Team Titles.
