Arthur Masuaku (born 7 November 1993) is a French footballer who currently plays for Superleague Greece side Olympiacos as a left back. He began his senior career with Valenciennes, and has represented France at under-18 and under-19 level.[1]

Club career

Valenciennes

Masuaku came through the youth system of Valenciennes. He made his Ligue 1 debut on the opening game of the 2013–14 season on 10 August 2013 against Toulouse. He was substituted after 75 minutes for Tongo Doumbia.[3] On 29 January 2014 Masuaku scored his first competitive goal for Valenciennes in a 2–1 away defeat against Marseille.[4]

Olympiacos

In July 2014, Masuaku signed for Olympiacos.[5][6] He made his Superleague debut against Niki Volos, and in his third league match he provided two assists against OFI Crete in a 3–0 home win.[7] Three days later he made his debut and scored in the UEFA Champions League competition against Atlético Madrid in a 3–2 home win.[8]

According to reports, A.S. Roma are not satisfied with the performances of Ashley Cole and José Holebas, and are expected to make an official offer to the Greek champions at the end of the season. Roma are not the only Italian club monitoring the left back, as there has been interest from Internazionale and Juventus.[9][10] However, Masuaku is staying grounded and according to his agent, Roger Henrotay, Olympiakos left back will agree his new contract during the next week."The clubs interested in Masuaku need to agree a fee with Olympiakos. Next week I'll be in Athens over Masuaku's renewal with Olympiakos. Masuaku has a three-year contract with Olympiakos and we want to extend it," he underlined.[11]

Genoa's interest for Masuaku denatured in an offer of €4 million which includes the former Olympiakos midfielder Giannis Fetfatzidis, but was rejected from Olympiacos. The negative response, however, does not scare the president of club Enrico Preziosi who said that the Griffon is ready for a new counteroffer.[12]
