Janelle Kirtley Godfrey (born December 8, 1943) is an American former World Champion water skier. She is a member of the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame[1] and gained the Award of Distinction from the Water Ski Hall of Fame in 2001.[2] In 1960 she won overall in the Masters Water Ski Tournament. She won the 1961 World Tournament Women’s Slalom Title[3] and the 1963 Tricks and Slalom.

She learned how to water ski at the age of 5, with the help of her parents, Leona and Robert H Kirtley. She is now a mother of three with 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
