Wikipedia:Files for upload

Welcome to Files for Upload, part of WikiProject Articles for creation. This process was created to allow unregistered users to add new files to Wikipedia with the assistance of experienced Wikipedians. If you would like to upload an image yourself, you can create an account and after four days and 10 edits you will be autoconfirmed and able to upload files. However, please consider uploading free files over at the Wikimedia Commons (instructions for creating an account there can be found here).

Reviewing requests

If you are an experienced editor, then you can help out by reviewing requests. Make sure you're familiar with Wikipedia's policies on non-free content (or simplified version). Learn about Wikipedia's various copyright tags. Read the guide on how to review file upload requests. Note that this page's editnotice contains an expandable cheat sheet with all the templates used in reviewing requests. After uploading the file tag its talk page with {{subst:WPAFCF}}. Remember to subst all templates. Notify the requester at their talk page using {{subst:ffu talk}} ~~~~ whenever you act on their request. You are responsible for anything you upload, so make sure you are comfortable that the file satisfies Wikipedia's policies first. If the file is non-free, then you must insert the file in the appropriate article right away in order to comply with the non-free content criteria.

My personal opinion is that this fails WP:NFCC#8; no statement about the book needs to be accompanied by a picture of its cover to be understood. And since the article is about the person, not the book, a picture of the book cannot be used to identify the topic (for which purpose a portrait already exists). – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 20:27, 9 May 2016 (UTC)

We typically allow the coverpage of the first English publication of a work. However, here the first publication is in a magazine and the image replicates to a substantial extent the text of the story. New Logo that Replaces Old Logo For Edmund T. Pratt Jr. School of Engineering

Description: This image is the current and accurate logo for the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University. It supersedes and completely replaces the previous 'doorway' logo now appearing on Wikipedia. The 'doorway' logo has been completely discontinued and is no longer in use at all. For example, the 'doorway' logo is not in use on the cannot be school's website: http://pratt.duke.edu. The 'doorway' logo should be, in compliance with Wikipedia rules and policy, removed or archived in such a way that this new image supersedes and completely replaces it and the 'doorway' logo cannot be displayed or found.
