Biography
A former student of Lycée Henri IV, Mérouane Debbah entered the École Normale Supérieure de Cachan in 1996 and obtained his Phd degree in 2002. He started his career at Motorola Labs in Saclay in 1999. He joined the Telecommunication Research Center of Vienna in 2002 as a senior researcher (ftw.). From 2003 to 2007, he was a member of the academic staff of Eurecom in Sophia-Antipolis. At the early age of 31, he became a full Professor at Supélec (campus of Gif-sur-Yvette). At the same time, he founded and was director of the Alcatel-Lucent chair on Flexible Radio. This was the first industrial chair in Telecommunication in France with close ties between Supélec and Bell Labs.[1] He is among the pioneers in the technological development of small cells and Massive MIMO for wireless cellular networks. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
He founded at the end of 2014 the Huawei Mathematical and Algorithmic Sciences Lab in Paris, with a special focus on 5G.
During his career, Mérouane Debbah co-founded several start-ups, such as Ximinds and Ulanta.
