|ShortSummary = Bernard's son Reginald (Reggie Hayes) visits the White House and decides to quit being a butler (much to Bernard's dismay) to become a magician after President Johnson says that people should chase their passions in life, but Reginald turns out to be a terrible magician when he performs for the Johnson family and Bernard. However, Olivia reveals that Lucas had taken the animals that were supposed to be used in Reginald's act. Meanwhile, Pauletta and Alvin get on the bad side of some animal rights activists protesting outside the White House after they enter eating hamburgers, only for Pauletta to (pretend to) become a vegetarian after a confrontation with the activists leads to her falling for one of the group's members, Warren (Warren Hutcherson).

Note: Michael D. Roberts (Bernard) is upgraded to a series regular beginning with this episode.

Rather than settling their dispute in private as President Johnson suggests, the two decide to take their feud to the TV court show Court of the People. But when Alvin brings Olivia in as a surprise witness, she reveals that she gave them the two dollars to purchase the winning ticket, leading the show's presiding judge, Judge Pepper (Dorien Wilson), to award the $5,000 to the President's youngest daughter. Meanwhile, Katherine decides to redecorate the White House, but the new look leaves much to be desired, leading Katherine to challenge President Johnson to see if he can do better.

The situation gets complicated when June believes that President Johnson's press secretary Rebecca (Mary Passeri) is Lucille Ball and proposes marriage. Meanwhile, Olivia is given a good luck idol, but she and Charles discover that it is truly good luck, even resulting in Metta World Peace visiting the White House. Before the pageant, Katherine reveals that she is responsible for sabotaging Pauletta's chances of winning the Little Miss Motor City pageant by putting itching powder in her dress, something Pauletta believed that Melanie had done; Olivia improvises a comedy routine for the talent portion of the pageant, after Destiny sings the song Olivia planned to sing (Give My Regards to Broadway). Meawnhile, President Johnson becomes the joke of the nation – and the butt of jokes from late night talk show host Johnny Griffin (series creator Byron Allen) – after he gets startled by a spider during a live presidential address. |ShortSummary = Vice President Crandall (Tom Arnold) stays at The White House when his apartment is being fumigated for termites, and becomes a nuisance for the Johnson family. When he barges into a meeting, Crandall falls in love with press secretary Rebecca (Mary Passeri). Days later, Katherine discovers that Crandall's house finished fumigating two days earlier, giving them leeway to get him out; however, the President, Katherine and Bernard discover that Crandall extended his stay to get closer to Rebecca. Alvin decides to help Vice President Crandall court Rebecca, which fails miserably when he repeats everything Alvin says, including accidentally saying a comment aimed at Charles regarding his facial hair. Crandall then seeks President Johnson's advice and sets up a situation to make him look like a hero to Rebecca by rescuing one of her 17 cats.
