Mark Z. Danielewski (born 1966) is an American author best known for his bestselling 2000 book, House of Leaves.

Danielewski completed undergraduate studies at Yale University and pursued graduate studies at the USC School of Cinema-Television. He also served as an assistant editor and worked on sound for Derrida [1], a documentary based on the life of the Algerian-born French literary critic and philosopher Jacques Derrida.

He is the son of Polish film director Tad Danielewski and the brother of Ann Danielewski, better known as the musician Poe. He toured with Poe in 2000 to promote her album Haunted, which reflects elements of House of Leaves.
