does the original exist?

there are all these pictures of a car, but it also says that the car was recreated. The article should be clearer on what is known about what happened to the original. I assume it would be incredibly valuable to collectors. OK now my sense is that the car does exist because the 2nd picture in this sequence shows a well worn and old leather seat.
