Atticus Shaffer (June 19, 1998) is an American actor, voice actor and singer. He is best known for portraying Brick Heck on the ABC sitcom The Middle, as well as for voicing Edgar in Frankenweenie (2012) and his brief appearance in Hancock (2008).[1]
Early life
Shaffer was born in Santa Clarita, California, the son of Ron and Debbie Shaffer.[2]
Personal life
Shaffer has osteogenesis imperfecta, a disease involving a defect in type 1 collagen, which causes fragile bones.[3] His small stature from this condition allows him to portray a character on The Middle approximately 3 to 5 years younger than his real-life age. He also requires a body double during scenes where he could get hurt. He is homeschooled and is an avid reader, much like the character he portrays on The Middle.
