Peepal Farm is a not for profit, non-governmental organisation^{[citation needed]} in Dhanotu village nearby Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh, India. The preferential target is the improvement of life conditions of the stray animal population, especially cows and dogs and a shift in how animals are perceived.

In the stay animal recover center approximately 30 animals are in various stages of recovery at any given time.^[1] As Peepal Farm is pursuing a wholistic philosophy, Ayurveda in addition to allopathy is utilised for treatment.

The organic farm provides produce for people and dogs and grass for cows. Art projects to spread awareness for compassion towards animals are done with the help of volunteers. A further guest room is available for experteers who come specifically to do a project to help the farm or the cause taken up by the farm.

To finance the activities, Peepal Farm sells products produced or made at the farm.

History

Peepal Farm was started in December 2014 by Robin Singh and Joellen Anderson, who were then joined by the third co-founder Shivani Bhalla later on. Immediately before the trio had been running a sterlization program for stray dogs^[2] in New Delhi. The idea stemmed from the limitations of animal welfare work, and they decided to do it in a way that involves and inspires others. In the year 2015 once the primary construction was complete, farm was open to people to volunteer and work in exchange of lodging and vegan meals. Since that time, farm has helped many animals heal, find homes^[3] or pass on peacefully.

Being the only place where large animals can recover in the area, since 2017 local administration regularly refers cases to Peepal Farm.
