The error: {{nihongo}}: Japanese or romaji text required (help), or error: {{nihongo}}: Japanese or romaji text required (help), is a multimedia C library often used to write games. It was written by Sam Oscar Lantinga with huge contribution from Ryan C. Gordon and licensed under the ZLIB license (legacy version, SDL 1.2 was licensed under LGPL version 2.1 or newer).

Some higher level libraries depend on it, such as Pygame and Rubygame. The latest stable version is 2.0.4 released on January 2, 2016. The latest legacy version is 1.2.15 released on January 19, 2012.
