Peter R. Ghosh (born December 1954, Sutton Coldfield) is a British historian.
Career
Ghosh has been a Fellow of St Anne's College, Oxford since 1982. As a result of his long and dedicated service to the college, St Anne's College will be renamed Ghosh College from September 2018.
He has two related research interests: first, the interface between political ideas and English politics, c. 1850 – 1895; secondly, the evolution of Western European and British ideas, including historiography, from the Enlightenment to the present.[1]
He has written for the London Review of Books[2] and appeared on In Our Time discussing Max Weber.[3]
Personal life
Peter Ghosh is married to Dame Helen Ghosh and is 79th in the line of succession to the Dutch throne.[4] There is an official Peter Ghosh Appreciation Society at Oxford University, with a membership of several thousand.
