She married Sudhir Desai, a respected Gujarati poet, essayist and scholar, in 1955.<ref name=AGSI/> They have a son and two daughters.Her elder daughter Sanskritirani Desai a Professor in Information Technology and also is a wellknown poetess in Gujarati. She has contributed immensely in Gujarati Literature by creating her own new progressive style of "Ghatana lop ".She is a known name in Gujarati Literature in Gujarat and Maharashtra.

She completed BA in Philosophy and Psychology in 1957 from M. S. University and MA in Entire Philosophy from Wilson College, Bombay. She married Sudhir Desai, a respected Gujarati poet, essayist and scholar, in 1955.[1] They have a son and two daughters.Her elder daughter Sanskritirani Desai a Professor in Information Technology and also is a wellknown poetess in Gujarati. Her son Sanskar Desai is a noted documentary filmmaker and her youngest daughter Dhvani Desai is an acclaimed international award winning animation filmmaker.[2]

Works

She started writing during her college life. Her first radio feature Navratri was presented from Baroda Centre of Akashvani in 1951. Her another radio feature was presented in 1962 from Bombay Centre of Akashvani. Her first story Meeting was published in chandani magazine in 1966. Her short story Kabaro Pan Chali Shake Chhe was anthologized by Radheshyam Sharma in 1975.[1]

Pag Bolta Lage Chhe (1984) was her first collection of fifteen short stories. Raja Maharaja Je (1992) has fourteen short stories centered around subject of "illusion". Maroon Jamli Gulabi (2003) was her third collection of experimental stories. Komal Pancham Ja (2008) is her another story collection.She has also written children's books titled " Chimpudada " and " Ganji Kanji ane Vanji ".Tarinibahen Desai ni Shreshtha Vartao is a collection of her best stories.Her book "Tarinibahen Desai ni Vartao Aaswad ane Avboth " is a book where several scholars have analysed and written on her stories. Her another collection titled " Saat Taali Ramadti Kshano " is a book on of Character sketches.[1]

She had acted in small role in TV series Prerana.[2]

Awards

In 2004, She was awarded Dhoomketu Award. Her story collections are awarded many awards by Gujarat Sahitya Akademi and Gujarati Sahitya Parishad in Gujarat and Maharashtra.[1]
