Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) is an award[1][2][3] granted to individuals that the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) judges to have made outstanding achievements related to the Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce. Fellowship is awarded to those who can demonstrate that they have made significant contributions to social change, support the mission of the RSA, and share the values of the RSA.[4][5][6]

Fellowship

As of 2016, the RSA Fellowship is an international community of 28,000[7] members since 1754.[8]

New fellows are selected either by fast-track nomination by an existing fellow[9] or applying directly. Applicants for Fellowship have to outline:

  1. Why they wish to join the RSA
  2. How they expect to engage with the RSA
  3. How aligned they are to the RSA Fellowship Charter

After the nomination of a candidate has been received, an admissions panel will make the final decision to accept or decline a new fellow.[10] Fellows are charged a subscription[10] and are entitled to use the post-nominal letters FRSA.

Notable fellows

Examples of current fellows, who come from diverse backgrounds and professions, include Tim Berners-Lee, Judi Dench, Stephen Hawking, Alex James, Benson Taylor, and Gareth Malone. Previous Fellows have included Marie Curie, Charles Dickens, Benjamin Franklin and Karl Marx.
