Shilpa Anand (Now Ohanna Shivanand)[4] is an Indian model, film and television actress, who has appeared in South Indian and Hindi films and worked in many commericals as model.[5] She is best known for her television role as Dr. Riddhima Gupta in Dill Mill Gayye opposite Karan Singh Grover.[6] Later she played the role of Dr. Shilpa Malhotra in Dill Mill Gayye on fans demand.[7][8] In 2012, She played the role of Meera in popular telefilm Teri Meri Love Stories on Star Plus. She has also starred in Panjabi and Hindi music videos.

Early life

Anand was born on 10 December 1982, in South Africa to Hindu family with Shilpa Shivanand name.[9] She did her schooling in South Africa. Later she moved to India and then studied at the Punjab University, obtaining a Masters Degree in Computer Applications (MCA), from 2000 to 2003.[10]

Career

Anand is a South Indian[11] and Hindi film actress, who started her career as a child artist in the Tamil film Vishnu (1995 film).[12] Later she worked as a software developer for five years, with Java J2EE application development and E-Learning.[13]

In 2002, she made debut in acting as main lead with Tegulu film Bezawada Police Station.[14] In the same year, She has done an official panjabi music video "Gol Gol Akh" in the album Haaye Soniye.[15] Anand has also starred in the super hit Telugu film Vishnu (2003) opposite South Indian superstar Manchu Vishnu.[16] In 2004, She made debut in Kannada film industry with Sarvabhouma as female lead Anju.[17]

After played lead role in three South Indian films, she moved to Mumbai and began her modeling career.[5] She is an established model who has done over 40 commercials with many famous Bollywood actors such as; Aamir Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Amitabh Bachchan.[18] She made her debut in Bollywood film industry with Ravi Shankar’s film Iqraar by Chance (2006) as Rashmi Mehra.[19]

2007-2011

In 2007, Anand began her television career with medical youth show Dill Mill Gayye on Star One. [20] In the show, she played the role of Original Dr. Riddhima Gupta opposite Karan Singh Grover, Which made her a well-known[21] and unforgettable[22][23] face of the TV world. Before played the lead role in Dill Mill Gayye, She was seen in music video "Kuch Der Tak".[24]

In 2008, Due to problem with production house Cinevistaas Limited, she quit the show. But fans began demanding to bring her back in the show.[25] She was at the pinnacle of success when she decided to move on and leaving her fans heartbroken.[26] The show's TRP's went down after she left it. Anand was the most famous Dr. Riddhima Gupta among three Riddhima's in Dill Mill Gayye.[27] In 2009, the producer of Dill Mill Gayye apologized to her for the wrong behavior after the second Riddhima Sukirti Kandpal had quit and approached her for returning to the show but she refused.[28]

After two years in June 2010, Anand made a re-entry in the same show Dill Mill Gayye as Dr. Shilpa Malhotra on the most popular demand of her fans.[29] In the show, she once again paired opposite Karan Singh Grover.[30]

In 2010, She has also starred in the Bollywood film "Deewane Ho Gaye" opposite Bollywood superstar Sanjay Dutt.[31] In 2011, She was casted in Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon starred film "Alert 24X7" as another main lead opposite Ruslaan Mumtaz. The film produced by Sanjay Dutt and dirceted by Karan Johar. In the film, she played the role of a journalist.[32]

2012-present

In 2012, Anand played the role of Meera in the anthology series Teri Meri Love Stories on Star Plus.[33] In 2013, She starred in the Bollywood Romantic Suspense Drama film Bloody Isshq as Radhika.[34] In 2014, She has starred as a model in official music videos "Kachichiyan" and "Khwaishein".[35]

In 2015, she was seen in the special episode of BIG Magic's show Mahisagar as a celebrity guest.[36] In 2016, She shared screen with Om Puri and Himani Shivpuri in the comedy film "Yeh Hai Lollipop"[37] and also starred as model in music video "Over Under" with Tarsem Jassar.[38]

Personal life

Anand's real name is Ohanna Shivanand.[39] In 2015, She Changed her name Shilpa to Ohanna and her nicknames are Shona and Shilpu. She also runs family business alongside acting and modeling.

She is younger sister of Sakshi Shivanand who is a well-known actress from South India[40] and her mother name is Parveen Shivanand. She has a Dog[41] and it name is Shapaw.[42]
