The first studio album by the Koch Marshall Trio has received high praise. "‘Toby Arrives’ is the sort of album you could stack alongside a [[Thelonius Monk]] record, a [[Jeff Beck]] record or a Mike Landau record. If you went for one of the other three and got this by mistake your day wouldn’t be ruined."<ref>{{cite web |last1=Pendragon |title=Toby Arrives Launching Koch Marshall Trio |url=http://bluesdoodles.com/cd-review/toby-arrives-launching-koch-marshall-trio/ |website=Bluesdoodles |publisher=Bluesdoodles |accessdate=12 September 2018}}</ref> |

Scope Magazine's R.M. Engleman had this to say about the Toby Arrives album: |

"...the first few songs start off a bit slow, but then the talent kicks in. The three piece organ driven blues release lets you hear a lot of classic and untraditional riffs, both on the keys and guitar. Greg’s playing is a little jazzy, a little funky, and the riffs are untraditionally cool. Believe me, he doesn’t just play scale riffs. A lot of little nuances here with both the B3 and guitar.<ref>{{cite web |last1=Engelman |first1=R.M. |title=KOCH MARSHALL TRIO – ‘TOBY ARRIVES’ |url=https://skopemag.com/2018/03/18/koch-marshall-trio-toby-arrives |website=Scope Mag |publisher=Scope Entertainment |accessdate=13 September 2018}}</ref> |

Background
The "Toby Arrives" album title is in reference to the Hammond organ player Toby Lee Marshall. The Koch Marshall Trio formed because of the persistence of drummer Dylan Koch. Greg Koch says their brand of rock came together when Dylan Koch insisted he meet Toby Lee Marshall one afternoon. The three musicians got together for an impromptu jam session that day. From that first session the first track on the Toby Arrives cd was written. Greg Koch said.[1]
