The company is based in St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands. The majority of the group’s hotels operate under the Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand (part of Radisson Hotel Group), over which the Group has exclusive rights in 56 countries in EMEA, and art’otel, a brand which the company fully owns. PPHE Hotel Group also manages the 5 star hotel Plaza on the River, London.

History

The group opened its first hotel, Park Plaza Mandarin, in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, in 1989. Victoria Hotel Amsterdam (later renamed as Park Plaza Victoria Amsterdam), a historical landmark built in 1890, became the companies' second hotel. In 2000, Park Plaza Hotels Limited acquired the master franchise for the Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand from Park Plaza Worldwide, for the EMEA region.

Park Plaza Hotels Limited started to manage the art’otels in 2000, and acquired full ownership of the brand in 2007.

In 2002 the first Chino Latino Restaurant & Bar, offering a mix of pan-Asian cuisine and Latin cocktails, opened at Park Plaza Nottingham; it was later followed by a Chino Latino at Park Plaza Leeds (2003) and Park Plaza London Riverbank (2005). The first Chino Latino outside of the United Kingdom opened in 2010 at the art’otel cologne.[2]

With nearly 10 years of planning and more than two years of construction, in 2010, Park Plaza opened the 1,019 bedroom Park Plaza Westminster Bridge London.[3]. The £350 million project was the third Park Plaza on London’s South Bank, adjacent to Park Plaza County Hall London (2008) and nearby Park Plaza London Riverbank (2005)[4]

In 2011, Park Plaza Hotel's Limited announced the start of the rebranding of two Resort Hotels of the Arenaturist Hotel group. After extensive renovations, Park Plaza Histria Pula and Park Plaza Verudela Pula opened their doors in 2012. [5]

Park Plaza Hotels Limited rebranded the group to PPHE Hotel Group in March 2012 with the overall objective of distinguishing the group from the individual hotel brands Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts, art’otel and Arenaturist.[6]

In summer 2013, art’otel extended the brand by opening their flagship hotel in Amsterdam featuring 107 rooms. [7]
