Wikipedia is an encyclopedia not a bunch of lists.

The bulk of this article is a list of ships organised by series but with no details or reasons for each series. There should at a minimum be some details of what each series is and how it contrasts with the other series. What are the characteristics of each series and why they were so named, if relevant.
