== Help with Street name ==

Can anyone help me?. I used to live in Hexham until i was 5, then my parents moved to [http://www.rugeleyweb.com/ Rugeley ] in Staffordshire because there was more employment in the midlands at the time (The Pits)

I used to live in a street near a school i attended for a year or so called Hexham east county primary school(I think)and the street was called wanless close or oneless close, as i remember i lived second from the top on the right, it was a steep street.

I can't seem to find any record of this street anywhere. I am thinking maybe it has changed names.

Has anyone any information on this? I know my memory is vague.

Thanks All

Name origin

Corrected name origin. See http://www.thenortheast.fsnet.co.uk/Place%20Name%20Meanings%20E%20to%20J.htm

Wolves of Hexham

Found a wonderful article on h2g2; The Wolves of Hexham: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A11464715 muldranskully 07:03, 1 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Expanded History

I've added information on the border raids of C13-14, and on the 1715 rebellion. I've also expanded the section on the Abbey slightly, and in a fit of pedanticism I've changed the grammar on the Liberal attitude of the Courant.
