Wolves of Hexham
[edit]Found a wonderful article on h2g2; The Wolves of Hexham: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A11464715 muldranskully 07:03, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
Expanded History
[edit]I've added information on the border raids of C13-14, and on the 1715 rebellion. I've also expanded the section on the Abbey slightly, and in a fit of pedanticism I've changed the grammar on the Liberal attitude of the Courant. hmm...
[edit]Any other hexham wikipedians out there? :D 127.0.0.1 (contribs) (email) (block) 10:38, 24 July 2006 (UTC)

Help with Street name
[edit]Can anyone help me?. I used to live in Hexham until i was 5, then my parents moved to Rugeley in Staffordshire because there was more employment in the midlands at the time (The Coal Industry)
I used to live in a street near a school i attended for a year or so called Hexham east county primary school(I think)and the street was called wanless close or oneless close, as i remember i lived second from the top on the right, it was a steep street.
I can't seem to find any record of this street anywhere. I am thinking maybe it has changed names.
Has anyone any information on this? I know my memory is vague.
Thanks All
- We (my mother has lived in hexham for a while) think that the name may have been changed to Nent Grove, its close to Wanless Lane... Duncan 21:40, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks Duncan. I have recently looked at Flash Earth and now i am convinced the street name has changed to Valley View.
All the best
Picture/Abbey
[edit]Can we find a picture of the Abbey rather than (or in addition to) St Mary's? If you didn't know the town you might think that St Mary's was the major church/abbey - more than a bit misleading.
Also the complete absence of anything about the Abbey is bizzarre. There isn't even a link to the article. I will do something about this in the next few days. Duncan (talk) 06:58, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
External link
[edit]The first external link ("Hexham Abbey") leads to a page where an error message ("Access forbidden") appears. I cannot possibly imagine why my address should be "banned" in any way (and it never is, anywhere else, I mean), so I am pretty sure there's something wrong with the page itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.61.38.134 (talk) 18:17, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Boring Introduction =
[edit]This new introduction seems to have been generated by some robot. It talks about other towns in the area, and doesn't describe Hexham at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.159.76.106 (talk) 18:58, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
Also, it states that Hexham is South of the Tyne. Isn't Bridge End Industrial estate, and a little factory called Egger North of the river? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.25.15.66 (talk) 20:45, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- They are, but they are not technically in Hexham, whatever the Royal Mail may claim. Both are located in Sandhoe. Hexham itself is located entirely south of the river. Skinsmoke (talk) 03:57, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Excessive spam = implement the DMOZ solution
[edit]Due to the excessive number of spam links on the bottom of the article, and total number of links - in excess of 30 - I implemented the agreed DMOZ solution. Rgds, --Trident13 (talk) 21:47, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Notable Buildings; Hexham Rowing Club?
[edit]Are we going to mention the rowing club? Founded in 1878, I feel it constitutes the title of a notable building. It currently doesn't have an article, but I'd be happy to make one. TheHecster (talk) 12:32, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
- as notable as it is, it is not a building Habat1165 (talk) 17:34, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
'Cohenstead Noyon' the old historical full official name of Hexham twin-town, Noyon...
[edit]In that the lastname of Crypto-Jew John Calvin has (for sometime now) been 'Englished' from Cohen, to Cauin, to lastly Calvin, it would be somewhat timely to mind folk that: "Cohenstead Noyon" (Cf.Lutherstadt Wittenberg and suchlike), is no longer the full official name of the Picard town of Noyon, even though: 'Cohenstead Noyon' is very much alive and well unofficially. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:C7D:411:1600:226:8FF:FEDC:FD74 (talk) 16:25, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
- Wait. What does John Calvin have to do with anything? RunnyAmiga ※ talk 16:28, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
Heed. "Cohenstead Noyon" (Cf. Lutherstadt Eisleben) had been mislisted (as one of Hexham's twin towns) has the aforesaid title is no longer the official name of Noyon, Picardy - the hometown of John Calvin, whom's lastname spelling is a corrupted Anglisation of his original Jewish lastname: 'Cohen'. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.220.156.148 (talk) 19:47, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
