Eugene, Oregon
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. == Wikipedia is not a memorial site ==

Hi Vicboy, you've continued to add a "fallen officers" section to the Eugene Police Department (Oregon) article. Please read WP:NOTMEMORIAL, which states "Wikipedia is not the place to memorialize deceased friends, relatives, acquaintances, or others." tedder (talk) 00:08, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

"do not erase"
Using shouted admonitions like do not erase in an edit summary is contrary to how the Wikipedia community works to build and improve articles collaboratively. The quickest way to gain some insight into appropriate content for an article is to read Wikipedia's Five Pillars. These form the basis of how one persuades other editors that a particular edit is an improvement.

Furthermore, articles about U.S. cities have already had considerable debate about what should be in them and what should not be included. The resulting guideline is WP:USCITY. Please refer to that as a reference for improving or developing such an article. If you feel there are inappropriate guidelines there, appeal for change on the guideline's associated talk page.

Thanks for your efforts to improve the Eugene article. Possibly you are misunderstanding the Wikipedia slogan The encyclopedia anyone can edit. The full slogan (which was edited for brevity) should be something like The encyclopedia anyone can help improve according to policies and guidelines decided by the editing community. —EncMstr (talk) 03:14, 28 April 2010 (UTC)

Lane County fallen officers memorial
Hi- again, you added a memorial/fallen officers section to Lane County Sheriff's Office (Oregon). This is your final warning; while the page needs to be expanded, WP:NOTMEMORIAL should be followed. Please let me (or others) know if you need help coming up with encyclopedic content to add. Once example would be the history of the department. tedder (talk) 01:04, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
::It is inappropriate to warn this user over adding this info. WP:NOTMEMORIAL states "Wikipedia is not the place to memorialize deceased friends, relatives, acquaintances, or others." So if someone created an article about a non-notable friend who died, WP:NOTMEMORIAL applies. However, listing in a police department article that officers in that department have died is history. Having this info is not only appropriate, it is required if the article is to be complete.--SouthernNights (talk) 01:24, 29 April 2010 (UTC)
:::Hi SN and Vicboy, apologies for that. However, no consensus could be found, even on Wikipedia:WikiProject Law Enforcement to support this. I will agree that it didn't verge into memorial territory if the names are omitted. In that vein, I'm going to convert the Lane County and Eugene police pages to prose, rather than a table. === Vandalism ===

Hello,
I see you have already been warned about adding unsourced claims about Eugene being Oregon's second-largest city, which it is not. I came here because you added that claim to Eugene, also without a source. I also want to point out that this edit was NOT a minor edit, and you should refrain from marking edits you know are bogus as minor in the future, because it indicates that you know you are breaking rules and are attempting to avoid detection. A tag has been placed on :Springfield Syndicate 13 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding <code>hangon</code> to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.<!-- Template:Nn-warn --> Morenooso (talk) 03:03, 4 May 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on :Cottage Grove Police Department (Oregon) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. == Eugene ==

Please do not undo edits without explanation as you did with this edit to Eugene, Oregon. The editor making the edit has given a reasonable rationale (please, the article has enough subsections already, this level of navigation is needlessly complex. Discuss on talk page before re-adding). Per the guideline Bold, Revert, Discuss, it is up to you to explain why your edit is an improvement. Simply undoing edits without explanation is rude, and repeating the same edits without discussion is edit warring which you can be temporarily blocked for. So far you haven't participated in a single discussion. —EncMstr (talk) 02:23, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
:One last try on my part. I've reverted all your edits. There are a multitude of reasons, but the above one from EncMstr is most relevant for why I pretty much blanket reverted everything.
:That said, I admire your enthusiasm for trying to improve the coverage on Eugene. But you seam to simply not get what Wikipedia is. We are an encyclopedia. Go look up a city in a print encyclopedia at your local library and see what they tend to cover. Now, since this is not a print publication, we can go more into depth, but we still limit that. Honestly, I swear tomorrow you are going to add a subsection called "People with the first name of Bob who reside within 50 miles of Eugene". Then, you would actually pull out the phone book and starting adding those people. Or, in general, please read What Wikipedia is Not, specifically the WP:IINFO section, and even more pertinent #7 at WP:NOTDIRECTORY.
:Now, for a good example of what a city article looks like, see Hillsboro, Oregon. It's the best in the state, which I know because I did most of the work, but also because it is the only Featured Article of a city in Oregon. We also have Cave Junction, Oregon and Wilsonville, Oregon as GAs - and the Wilsonville one I'm responsible for. So, hopefully, that demonstrates that I actually might know something about city articles. But, if you don't care, oh well, no big deal, you can just read all the policies and guidelines and come to your own conclusions on content. For that, start with the above links (all of them, not just this section), and add Wikipedia:Featured article criteria (what all articles strive for), Wikipedia:WikiProject Cities/US Guideline (an outline for a city), and as a warning see about our three revert rule and edit warring.
:Lastly, hopefully the fact that a handful of editors have come to you to discuss your edits and that there are problems with your edits gives you a clue that there is a problem. Please take our advice. Failing to abide by the community consensus is a problem, and does not making editing fun. ==Speedy deletion of :Ya-Po-Ah Terrace (disambiguation)==
Hello Vicboy, this is a message from an automated bot to inform you that the page you created on May 13 2010, :Ya-Po-Ah Terrace (disambiguation), has been marked for speedy deletion by User:Ttonyb1 (page has mainspace links, and 4 edits). This has been done because the page is a recently created redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer (see CSD). If you think the tag was placed in error, please add "<code>hangon</code>" to the page text, and edit the to explain why the page should not be deleted. == Citizens Building ==

Vicboy, if you had checked the history of articles you have edited, you would already know that an addition like
: <tt>&lt;ref>Google Maps&lt;/ref></tt>
does not adequately back up Citizens Building (Eugene) for its claim of tallest office building. You'll find much to learn about editing rationale in the edit history of an article. *Hey, thanks for updating the massacres in Mexico! FYI, the recent incident in Tanhuato was (at least officially) a confrontation and not an indiscriminate mass murder, or massacre. We have to be really careful with this right now because it is a recent event. The Tlatlaya and Apatzingán incidents are widely regarded to be extrajudicial at this point so those are okay for inclusion. Thanks again!
