GA-20 is an American Blues band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band is named after the amplifier manufactured by Gibson from 1949 to 1961. They primarily play Chicago Blues.
Career
The band formed in 2018. Matthew Stubbs and Pat Faherty share guitar duties with a variety of drummers and Faherty forms performs all vocals.[1] The band started out doing local gigs of blues covers around Boston at the end of 2017. By March 2018 the band chose the name GA-20 and performed as a trio consisting of two guitars and a drummer. The band recorded its debut solo album in May 2018. The album was recorded at Q-Division Studios in Somerville, MA and was produced by Matthew Stubbs. Grammy award winner Charlie Musselwhite performed harmonica on the track "Naggin On My Mind" with Luther Dickinson adding slide guitar on the session. Dave Brophy was brought in for backing vocals and Matthew Prozialeck provided harmonica on several other tracks. The band was soon signed to Karma Chief Records. Their debut single Naggin' On My Mind was released in December 2018.[2] A 7-inch single and a full-length album is planned for release in 2019. The band played an opening slot for Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds in January 2019 [3] They were Nominated for a Boston Music Award for blues act of the year in 2018.
