Alona Rodeh is a visual artist. Her work spans a variety of media including sculpture, video, immersive installations using light and sound, photography, and publishing.[1].

Biography

Rodeh received her BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem in 2003, and participated in the BFA exchange program of the Academy of Fine Arts, Vienna. She completed her MFA at the Tel Aviv campus of Bezalel in 2009, spending a semester at the Sculpture Department of the Royal College of Art, London[2].

Rodeh's works have been exhibited at international institutions including MARTa Herford[3], Germany; KAI10 | Arthena Foundation[4], Düsseldorf, Germany; the Tel Aviv Museum of Art[5][6]; Künstlerhaus Bethanien[7], Berlin, Germany; CCA Tel Aviv[8]; Künstpalais Erlangen[9], Germany; Salzburger Kunstverein[10], Austria; and Plug In ICA[11] in Winnipeg, Canada, among others.

Work

Expanding on sculpture, and applying her experience as a set designer for theater[12], Rodeh is known for creating her own brand of large-scale, often room-spanning installations. She combines light, movement, and sound in a manner she describes as performance without performers[1], delivering time based experiences[13]

Rodeh's meta-titled Safe and Sound Project (2014–ongoing) explores histories of off-the-shelf reflective, phosphorus and illumination technologies[14][15][16].
