The Parker Academy was located in [[New Richmond, Ohio]] and was founded in 1839. The Parker Academy was originally named the Clermont Academy. The Academy was a Ohio school which offered an education to both boys and girls regardless of race, in the same classroom. Many of the early students were runaway [[slaves]]. The campus included a classroom building a men's dorm and another dorm for women. The women's dorm still stands, now a private residence. The Academy may have been the first school in Ohio to offer this choice. The founders of the academy were Daniel and Priscilla Parker, who were staunch [[abolitionists]].

Parker Academy closed in 1889.

[[Northern Kentucky University]] faculty and students began the first excavation of the Parker Academy site in May of 2015. This project has received support from the Ford Foundation.
