The article had a semi-promotional how-to tone, distracting formatting, and numerous other problems which I made a modest start on cleaning up. There is a lot of inside jargon with poor or no explanation, and a complete lack of inline citations. Therefore, I have changed the article rating to Start class. Other editors are invited to help clean up and upgrade this article. [[User:Reify-tech|Reify-tech]] ([[User talk:Reify-tech|talk]]) 01:47, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

I know this is a bigger question about derivatives in general but the myriads of ways how speculators can destroy the stock market and, consequently, cause a crisis, is considered to be dangerous in many countries. So it is interesting to know which non-productive techniques like this are allowed or banned in which countries. Merge with long straddle?

The long straddle page should be incorporated into this one and removed from the Options template. Finnancier 11:37, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge

I propose that this article be incorporated into the Straddle article. Thoughts? Finnancier 11:44, 26 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with short straddle?

The short straddle page should be incorporated into this one and removed from the Options template. To explain a short straddle, it is best to also explain a long straddle. Remove the short & long straddle pages, and point to the straddle page.

The discussion below shows that there is a poker straddle. To complicate things more, the NEW "straddle page" should be named "Stock Option Straddle", and create a straddle page that directs users to stock option straddle vs poker straddle? —Preceding unsigned comment added by WebSurfinMurf (talkcontribs) 12:10, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move Discussion

The "Straddle" page covers short straddle with in-depth analysis, while "Short Straddle" does not. The information in Short straddle can't be explained in detail without also explaining long Straddle, to grasp the concept. Therefore both Short Straddle and Long Straddle should be explained on a single page.

Today I spent three hours listening to some guy explaining something I could have learned from this entry on Wikipedia in five minutes. Thank God for Wikipedia. --Nerd42 01:27, 6 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Straddle (poker)

Darn. I was hoping to find a deeper explanation of the poker term "straddle" here. Maybe Straddle (poker) should be created? I found an OK explanation at rec.games.poker FAQ Travisl 00:42, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds great - so fix it! Ronnotel 03:10, 30 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm hoping someone else with more time will get to it before I do. The FAQ is blocked here at work :-) Travisl 18:12, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Found it elsewhere, at Betting (poker)#Straddle_bets. Adding link. Travisl 04:17, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Diagrams

The diagrams show the profit not the payoff, which is the net time T cash flow, and should be labeled as such. I tried changing it but the captions are hard-coded in the images. Anyway. Heads up.
