Breadloaf Writer's Conference Oldest writer's conference in the United States, founded in 1926 and held every summer in Middlebury, VT. Noted authors who have been associated with the conference over the years include Robert Frost, John Gardner, Charles Baxter, Charles Jackson, Shirley Jackson, Robert Clark Young, Rosellen Brown, Norman Mailer, and Barry Lopez.
