- Rolls-Royce Limited - company founded in 1906, nationalised in 1971 and split into Rolls-Royce plc and Rolls-Royce Motors in 1973.
- Rolls-Royce plc - the current engineering company specializing in turbine-based products. Privatised in 1987.
- Rolls-Royce Motors - the car division separated from Rolls Royce Limited in 1973, bought by Volkswagen in 1998.
- Rolls-Royce Motor Cars - user of the Rolls-Royce name, bought by BMW in 1998 after an agreement with Volkswagen. Full (motor car) rights to use the Rolls-Royce name came into effect in January 2003.
