Dr (Col) V P Singh ( Virendra Prasad Singh ) , is a very popular poet in Hindi , and is acclaimed for his intensely Patriotic/Nationalistic Poetry , Which he recites with such fervor that it leaves the audiences mesmerized and spell bound. Besides appearances in various TV channels , he has performed in more than 2000 Kavi Sammelans/ Mushairas in India and abroad. |

He has served the Indian Army in various capacities as a physician , and has served overseas in Botswana on deputation , and has also participated in UN peacekeeping operations in Mozambique , as a part of UNIMOZ team. |

Dr Col V P Singh was born to parents who had migrated to Odisha from the borders of Bihar & UP, before Independence. After finishing his schooling from St. Mary's School Barbil, he completed his MBBS & MD in General Medicine from VSS Medical College Burla, Sambalpur. He joined the Indian Army in 1985 . |

Had a distinguished career in the Indian Army as physician, Senior Advisor & Professor in Dept. of Medicine in the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College,Pune . He also had a 3 years deputation to Botswana Defense Forces as a part of the Indian Army Training Team . He also participated in UN Peacekeeping operation in Mozambique. He took premature retirement in 2011. Thereafter he served as Professor of Medicine & Pro Vice-Chancellor in Sumandeep Vidyapeth , a post he relinquished in 2018. |

Though he had a penchant for poetry from his school days , and wrote extensively throughout his medical college stays , he started performing with Hindi and Urdu poets of National repute from 1996 on-wards. Very soon he became a name to reckon with in the field of Martial / Patriotic/ Nationalistic poetry. |
