  • The GDP of Chennai doesn’t include the peripheral regions of Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Siruseri (OMR), Ennore, and Ponneri regions which are yet to be included in Chennai Metropolitan area but are the major contributors to the economy of the city unlike other cities where the peripheral regions are included in the metropolitan area. If these regions are included, Chennai will have the second largest GDP just behind Mumbai.[citation needed]
