The Kooks are an English indie rock band from Brighton. The Kooks debut album, Inside In - Inside Out, spent more than half of 2006 in the UK Top 20 and has sold more than 1,000,000 copies in the UK.[1] On 11th January 2007, via a myspace bulletin, the band announced they they would split up to pursue other projects after current touring commitments were completed.

NB: They should not be confused with another completely different band from Scandinavia called "The Kooks" who released an album in 1999 called "Too Much Is Not Enough", a follow up called "Verbal Jujitsu", and also various singles.
