  • Comment: What are the "Publishings"? Are they perhaps publications in which one or more plates of works by VG appear? Or are they publications that mention VG? Whichever they are, skip them; unless there's a substantial page span (which you should specify) or the publication is significant in some way (which you should also specify). You could use Teikō Shiotani#Other appearances as a model. Meanwhile, where is the commentary on VG or his work? If a subject hasn't been covered in reliable sources, then it fails to attain notability, and can't have an article here. Victor Guidalevitch (2 September 1892 - 19 January 1962) was a Belgian engineer who became an amateur photographer.

He photographed his surroundings, street scenes, landscapes, works of art, circus acts and sportsmen.

He used various processes such as bromoil and bromide and tended to favour small formats. The style of his photographs is marked by modernism and pictorialism. Some of his images have qualities usually attributed to Dutch still life.

Early life

Victor Issay Guidalevitch was born in Simferopol, Crimea, Russian Empire on 2 September 1892[1].

Migration to Belgium

He emigrated to Belgium in 1911 and attended the Science department of the University of Liège. He graduated as an electrical engineer in 1920[1].

In 1928 Victor Guidalevitch obtained Belgian citizenship.[2].

World War 2

In 1940 he had to report himself in the registry of Jews in Antwerp and Wilrijk[3].

Photography

In 1925 Victor Guidalevitch joined the "Iris" photo club in Antwerp[4].

From 1932 his works started appearing in exhibitions and publishings[5][6].

It wasn't until 1950 that he was recognized as an important photographer[7][8].

Victor Guidalevitch developed most of his photographs himself and had no commercial ambition, so there is a very limited number of copies available and they have become quite collectible[8].
